On behalf of our members, I wish to send our sincere sympathy to Brendan, Wendy & family, with the passing of Brendan's mother during the past week. Thinking of you all at this sad time.

Coaching; I caught up with Brian Doyle last Thursday in Napier, and as always Brian is keen to come down and support out Club. Wednesdays suit Brian best, and we are looking at one hour lessons, with 40 min iutes coaching, ten minutes on note writing etc, and ten minutes ball collecting. Lessons are $70 per hour. Available times being 9am, 10am, 11am, Lunch 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm. The date is not confirmed yet but will be after Championship finals on Oct 6th Can I have expressions of interest please as to who wants a lesson booking. Brian will also do a two hour group session if that helps, but on day one if we get 7 persons wanting a lesson, we will look to hold a second day within a couple of weeks.

We also have a proposal from Andrew Hanare from the Napier Golf Course. Andrew is keen (as part of the PGA) to hold sessions for persons wishing to take up Golf. In essence we go out to the community seeking a minimum of 6 persons wishing to take up golf, and get them several lessons with Andrew before they become a member. The key to this programme is having a personality within the Club who will get these people together, and keep them close during the lesson days, so that they in time become Club Members. This programme has been run at Waipukurau, and I beleive 35 people went through the Course, of which a high majority are now members. If you wish to read more about this programme read page 15, " Learning to play golf is a key to staying in the game" in the September edition of Pacific Golfer, which are on the table just inside the main doors at the Clubhouse. The above paragraph is a rough overview of the programme, more details to follow, but possibly give some thought to what you can do to promote this, and are you willing to assist. Kevin Pike assured me On Tuesday night that it is a lot of work for someone, but in their case, the rewards were brilliant

Satruday 29th September, The 19th will be running downstairs, as we have a private function upstairs that evening,

Saturday 17th November, Rongomaraeroa Marae Annual Golf Tournament Porangahau Country Club, Entry fee $35, Tee times 8.30am and 12.30pm (Flyer in Clubrooms)

All the best to those playing semi finals this weekend,

Good Golfing

Any thoughts or suggestions on how this event can be better attended, please reach out to Zane, Peter, or any match committee member. We do not want to see these tournaments fall off the annual calendar. Coronation Cup A team will be selected by Thursday, 2nd April. First round is in Takapau on Saturday, 11th April Twilight The end of Twilight season was postponed this week due to the weather and will be held next Thursday (weather permitting). High School Ambrose: A thank-you note from the High School says it all. " Kia ora e te whānau, our golf tournament last weekend was awesome, with 105 golfers turning up to support our school and try their luck at winning $20 000! Unfortunately, no one was able to ‘sink a hole in one’ and win the money. A big thank you to Mr Amrit Pasad and all the staff and students who helped to make this event a success. We would also like to thank the Dannevirke Golf Course, our generous sponsors and our community for entering the tournament and participating in the fundraising activities held on the day. All profits of this event will go towards our students’ sports travel." Special General Meeting; Thank you to the 55 members who turned out Monday night for the purpose of " Setting the annual member subscription fees for the 2026 / 2027 year. " The conclusion being the annual subscriptions for 2026 / 2027 is $665 for full playing members. The Management Committee acknowledges their error in not advertising this as an Agenda item at the AGM in December. Matter sorted, repeat of error to be avoided, move on. We are in the thick of Match Play golf with GHB Pennants and now Club Champs, and in April, the Coronation Cup. I hope all participants enjoy the experience. Good Golfing👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe
