Saturday October 5th . Please read the note from Stephen regarding the wedding on course on this day. In particular the 11am Tee Off despite information 2 weeks ago that we would be resuming 11.30am tee times effective this date ..
We have a private function at the Golf Club on 5 October. Rebekah Menzies is getting married with the ceremony taking place at the back of the 9th green. There will be a bit of activity around this area during the day as the family set up the area and the actual ceremony. Therefore tee off will be at 11 am and tees 1, 5 and 16 are to be used. No one is to start on 10 which means no one will finish on 9. Number 9 tee will be closed at 1.30 pm. The upstairs lounge will be closed from Friday so the family can decorate the lounge and will be available again on Sunday. There’ll be approximately 100 guests so the car park will be pretty full.
With the Greenwood Cup starting on 5 October I anticipate a smaller Saturday field and so there’ll be minimum disruption for members. We have about 6 of these functions at the Golf Club annually and while I appreciate there is some inconvenience, the functions generate quite a bit of extra income for the Golf Club and I thank members for their understanding and co operation. Thanks Stephen
Good Golfing one and all

Saturday June 14th; Wiffin Cup Round 2 matchplay. Duty, Match Bernie, House Basil A subtle reminder from our captains, that some round 1 Wiffin Cup matches are still outstanding. Please get these completed as soon as possible. Please let the person waiting to play the winner know what is happening, so they are aware. Sattrup & Brannigan; The draw is up in the club house. The weather was not that great last Saturday for first round matches, but again please keep in contact with your opponents, and get these games played before round 2 on June 28th. Given we are now in winter conditions, please use metal tracks etc where possible, especially if you are in a cart or on a bike. Skid marks take forever to grow grass in the winter, and your fellow golfers won't be happy playing off the bare dirt. Not a lot to report tonight, so I'll sign off. Good Golfing👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe

This is a four ball best ball match play competition. Find yourself a partner and put you names in. Competition is handicap match play, just like playing for a beer on Saturday. Coronation Cup Results; The competition was very strong last weekend with Pongaroa coming out on top, Results for our team were Pongaroa 7 Dannevirke 5, Karamu 6.5 Dannevirke 5.5, TePohue 6.5 Dannevirke 5.5, meaning we were right there until the end in each match. Congratulation to Amrit Prasad and Timmy Bell for 3 wins each, with Eru Hauiti 2.5 wins. Over the two weekends of zone play and finals, Amrit was unbeaten on 6 wins, as was Eru with 5.5 wins. A great effort from all, well done. Greenwood Cup; With Pennants and Coronation Cup now completed, our next Hawkes Bay competition is Greenwood Cup in October / November. Always looking for members wishing to be considered for this team. The dates being October 11th & 12th ( 3 rounds at Waipukurau), November 15th & 16th (4 rounds at Hastings GC). Any member wanting further information on this competition can contact Captains Zane & Peter, Clay myself or Patrick in his shop. Greenwood is a team of 10, playing in a competition of 8 teams, with Championship match play (off the stick). A great competition to aspire too. Green Keeper Comments; Two things for this week please. The staff have done some turf repairs by the bunker on number 6, and by the steps on number 13. The are marked GUR, so please don't play off or walk on these areas. There is a new sign on number 17, as regards the track, please observe and comply. Thanks . Being a long weekend, we have members heading of in different directions for tournaments, in Rarangi, Taumaranui, and Onga Onga and others. Wishing you all the best of luck in your various competitions. Good Golfing👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe

Saturday 31st / Sunday 1st June; Sisters Club Inter Club being played at Rarangi (Blenheim) We have a team of 20 heading south for this annual event, which is being played for about the 53rd time? Pine Trees; The Club has 6 plantations of pines which have been there for many years. The original intention being to plant these for harvest, and time has come for this process to begin. In the very near future, there will be felling carried out in three areas. Firstly some pines that need to come down at the back of number 11 green, by the railway, the plantation to the right of 13 (Lands End,) and a couple of pines to the left of number 13, which shade the green during winter. This work will have minimal effect on fairways, as the trees at the back of 11 will be trucked out via the farm, the lands end plantation will go out through the former Ministry of Works yard, the ones to the left of Lands end will go out along the river bank again to the MOW yard. The question of replanting, particularly the right of Lands End will be considered and proposals put to the December 2025 Annual General Meeting. All tree felling will be done early in the morning, and only trimming and log removal will carry on during the day. Please, If any area is fenced off, and No Entry signs are in place, then they are there for yours and the contractors safety. Such areas are not a recommendation, they are a rule, and any members seen entering these areas will be severely spoken too ! Another big weekend for Dannevirke mens golf. On behalf of our members, best wishes to our Coronation Cup team. Good Golfing,👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe
