It's finally happened. We have a score of 50 stableford points Yes thats right folks, Cheryl Benson broke 100 for the first time on Tuesday and came in with 50 Stableford points. Sorry Pete, ( Peter Greatbatch) 49 points on Sunday only makes runner up for the week, and the 18 handicap is gone.

NZMCA Tournament Friday 14th February . Mike Mathews reported to the Management Committee meeting last evening that the first of the Tararua District Council sponsored NZMCA Tournaments went very well last weekend. There was 30 odd players in the field, many being campervan owners and traveling to play Dannevirke and Pahiatua on the Saturday. Many thanks to our members who supported Mike and assisted with catering, bar tending cards etc. Unfortunately Mike seemed to have to run the Pahiatua event as well which was never on the plan, however moving forward, there has been sponsors wanting to be part of next years event. The Eketahuna Golf Club appear to now want to be involved after pulling out of this years event. Rest days between play has been suggested so people can tour the district and look at the attractions we have to offer. More information will come in the future. but it is fair to say, something has started that can only get better and bigger, when we get further buy in from clubs TDC and the districts attractions

Saturday 22nd February. Marae Tournament 11am Tee Off More entries required

Pennants. Round 1 is on Sunday 1st March. Attached is a copy of the 5 grades and their respective matches over the five weeks, plus weekly draws Attachment 1 plus a score sheet Attachment 2. Can captains please print off sheets to take with you for each match. Alternatively there will be copies in the Mens Draw in the filing cabinet at the Clubhouse starters office.

Championships: Continuing on from last years very successful trial, our championship competition begins on March 14, concluding with finals in late May. As has been the case for some years now, all members are deemed in the competition unless you notify mikematthews058@gmail.com or steveandmoira@xtra.co.nz otherwise. If you are going to be out of the country or on leave for part or most of this period, please withdraw now. Being away for 3 or more weeks throws the competition out, and makes it difficult for matches to stay up to date. Any questions please ask Mike (Mens Club Captain)

Golf starting to ramp up for the year again, and I appreciate Championships are going to be different to last year purely because of current conditions. Please bear in mind that a calendar has to be prepared in December / January for the following year, and at that stage who knows what the conditions are going to be like . At the conclusion of this years Champs, members will have the opportunity to discuss how the two year trial has gone, and how we proceed in coming years.

Saturday June 14th; Wiffin Cup Round 2 matchplay. Duty, Match Bernie, House Basil A subtle reminder from our captains, that some round 1 Wiffin Cup matches are still outstanding. Please get these completed as soon as possible. Please let the person waiting to play the winner know what is happening, so they are aware. Sattrup & Brannigan; The draw is up in the club house. The weather was not that great last Saturday for first round matches, but again please keep in contact with your opponents, and get these games played before round 2 on June 28th. Given we are now in winter conditions, please use metal tracks etc where possible, especially if you are in a cart or on a bike. Skid marks take forever to grow grass in the winter, and your fellow golfers won't be happy playing off the bare dirt. Not a lot to report tonight, so I'll sign off. Good Golfing👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe

Support in the way of caddies, or simply observers will be appreciated. Saturday 31st May; Kings Birthday weekend. Dannevirke South School is having a major reunion, and as such we have four groups of 4 playing nine holes at 9am. Please extend a warm welcome to our visitors. Saturday 31st / Sunday 1st June; Sisters Club Inter Club being played at Rarangi (Blenheim) We have a team of 20 heading south for this annual event, which is being played for about the 53rd time? Pine Trees; The Club has 6 plantations of pines which have been there for many years. The original intention being to plant these for harvest, and time has come for this process to begin. In the very near future, there will be felling carried out in three areas. Firstly some pines that need to come down at the back of number 11 green, by the railway, the plantation to the right of 13 (Lands End,) and a couple of pines to the left of number 13, which shade the green during winter. This work will have minimal effect on fairways, as the trees at the back of 11 will be trucked out via the farm, the lands end plantation will go out through the former Ministry of Works yard, the ones to the left of Lands end will go out along the river bank again to the MOW yard. The question of replanting, particularly the right of Lands End will be considered and proposals put to the December 2025 Annual General Meeting. All tree felling will be done early in the morning, and only trimming and log removal will carry on during the day. Please, If any area is fenced off, and No Entry signs are in place, then they are there for yours and the contractors safety. Such areas are not a recommendation, they are a rule, and any members seen entering these areas will be severely spoken too ! Another big weekend for Dannevirke mens golf. On behalf of our members, best wishes to our Coronation Cup team. Good Golfing,👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe
