Evening all,


Saturday 12th August;  Card draw 11am, duty Zane & Bryan . Wiffin Cup plus Sattrup & Brannigan matches please.


A big thank you; SHB 27 Hole Tournament. Our largest field for this tournament in many years. Despite wet underfoot conditions, the day was good and the field flowed well. Our thanks to our sponsors Bard Dippie from Mettalform, and Hamish Prenter, from Hamish Prenter painting. Brads work in contacting mates from the Bay assisted in strengthening the field, as did Peter Gregory's guests. Without meaning to forget anyone, may I thank firstly of members for supporting the field in great numbers, our cards ladies Gwen & Bernice, lunch ladies Barbara & Chook, bar staff Dipak & Barbara, members wives and partners who came out to put the meal on the table. A special thanks to our members who provided both a plentiful and wholesome meal. Kierane our green keeper had a big week with both AG & Bung off work, so Kierane, our thanks for your course presentation in what we all see as trying conditions. To our 2023 Strokeplay champion Tyson Tawera, thank you and congratulations. All in all a great day for our club.


Match Committee; Meeting Saturday 19th August, 9.45am. to review our 27 hole tournament, and provide recommendations for future events.


Just when we thought we have had a few good days and the weather may be turning for the better, down comes another 27mls in the last two, days, to put us right back to square one. Nothing changes sorry folk, the course will be wet underfoot, so watch those divots and pitch marks.

Friday 25th April; Anzac Day. Waitahora Cup, (best stabeford on the day). Men versus Ladies aggregate stableford. 12 noon Card draw. Saturday 26th April; Wiffin Cup Qualifying. Top 32 nett scores go through to the Matchplay rounds. House Duty Rhea Clubhouse; The clubhouse has been booked this weekend for a wedding. On Friday and Saturday can members please use the downstairs bar. Please take the time this weekend to get any Championship matches up to date. Saturday May 3rd is set down for Semi Finals, with Finals day set for Saturday May 17th. Any issues, please contact our Captains Zane or Peter Gregory. Forecast looks good for those heading to Anzac Services tomorrow morning. Our 12 noon card draw is only for tomorrow as a show of respect. A minutes silence will be observed prior to play commencing. Friday 18th April; Good Friday. A Friday competition will be held. Tee off from 10.30am, card draw at 12 noon for those interested in joining. Saturday 19th April; Card draw 11.30am. Anyone from the Match Committee present, please assist. House Duty is Basil Friday 25th April; Waitahora Cup, plus men v women aggregate stableford. 12 noon tee off/ card draw Saturday 26th April; Wiffin Cup Qualifying. Coronation Cup Finals, The teams and venue for the finals of the 2025 Coronation Cup are Te Pohue, Karamu, Pongaroa and Dannevirke, to be held at Hawkes Bay Golf Club on May 25th & 26th. A long weekend to look forward too, but not sure about the weather. If you feel like braving the conditions, come on out and have a round. If you are heading away over the weekend, travel safely. Evening all, Saturday 12th April; Cape Turnagain 27 Hole Strokeplay Tournament (Round 3 Ruahine Rosebowl). &.30am cup of tea, 8.30am Tee off Saturday 12th April; Round 2 Club Championship Matchplay. We do have a glitch in the programme, so for the 32 person draws, we are one round short. Please play these games as soon as you possibly can, as we want to continue and have the final Saturday 17t May. Duty Zane & Peter Gregory, House Stephen Sisters Club; Quick meeting to be held downstairs Saturday after prize giving please. Sunday 13th April; Round 4 Golf H B Pennants Competition. Champ 1 are playing at Wairoa, Champ 3 at swairoa. Handicap 2 at Hawkes By Golf Club, and Handicap 4 are at home. Coronation Cup; Congratulations to the Dannevirke team for winning the Zone competition at Porangahau last weekend. This now takes our team with the other Zone winners to finals week end on May 24th and 25th. Venue and the other 3 competing teams to be notified. Again please keep Championship matches moving, Easter next weekend, may provide opportunity to catch up if necessary.
