Saturday 19th October;  Card draw 11.30am Duty Mike & Bernie House Duty Angela Farrell


Saturday 2nd November;  Regent Theatre Fundraiser. Three ball Ambrose, $25 per player, lots of prizes. Raising funds for the new projector 


Saturday 9th November;  Closing Day, Trophy presentations. Lots of prizes on this day to mark the end of the 2024 competition season.


Greenwood Cup;  Results from last weekend. First up Saturday we played Maraenui, coming in with and 8 / 2 win, In the afternoon HB Golf were too strong winning 7/3. Sunday we played the host club Onga, last years winners going down 6.5 to 3.5. Rhys Harold came away from the weekend with three wins The team now turns their focus to November 16-17 at Maraenui where they will face Hastings, Napier, Central and Karamu. Looking forward to this weekend to finish off well and as close to the top as possible. 


We have three fundraising events coming up over the next month. Regent Theatre, Sisters Club, and Wai Splash. Support for any of these events would be appreciated. For members who query why we run them, take a look at all the sponsorship signs around the course. These business's support the Dannevirke Golf Club, so every now and then, it doesn't hurt the Golf Club to support another cause. 


Finally, a big shout out to all the members who have assisted the greens committee and staff to keep the course looking brilliant in Kierane's absence. Several members have been on tractors and greens mowers keeping everything groomed during the early spring growth. Kierane & Emma have the girls home now so busy time for them and big brother Arlo


Spring time without the wind is possibly the best season of the year for playing golf. The course looks a picture, and we have to keep clear of the ever growing rough. Enjoy it folks.

What's On 29 January 2026?

Evening all, Saturday, January 31st; Card draw 11.30 am Duty Zane, House Scott. Summer Cup matches as advised last week to be continued . Friday, February 6th (Waitangi Day) 11.30 am tee off; Maori v the rest match. Always a great day with plenty of before and after banter. Golf HB Pennants 2026. Dannevirke has 4 teams playing in this competition, in the Championship 1 & 3 grades, plus Handicap 2 & 3 grades. These are teams of 6 playing match play all over the Golf HB Region, commencing Sunday 22nd February. Any new members interested in being part of a team, please advise Zane on Saturday. NZ Ambrose Golf Cup, round 12 qualifier at Saint Andrews Golf Club, Hamilton. Congratulations to "Young Boys" Te Wai, Graiden, Rani, and Eru Hauiti of their 1st place last weekend. 68 Gross 57.5 nett. Off to the finals Twilight Golf; Don't forget Twilight Golf is played every Thursday, 4.30 to 5.30 pm tee off during daylight savings months. Great opportunity to try out the game, introduce family and friends to golf, or hone a few new skills over 9 holes. The weather gods have been much kinder to us, than in some areas of the country. With approximately 112 mils of rain this month, the course has gone from a dry, plenty of run summer track to a lush green autumn track in a couple of weeks. Saturday 24th January; Summer Cup Round 1 Matchplay. Duty Match Committee House Baz Mott Summer Cup Draw; Byes, Johnny Edwards, Bryan Burt, Amrit Prasad, Tama Petera. G Freeman v D Treacy Jnr, S Hikawai v Marg Treacy, Z Gregory v T Neilson, B Williams v T Peeti, V Hales v R Henricksen, J Bassett v B Mott, C Peck v S Beale, R Martin v T Albert, P Drummond v T Crawford, T Bell v N Evans, D Maken v M Filer, Billy Te Ture v M Matthews. Barrie Illsley Building sponsored 54 Hole Matchplay Tournament; A great weekend was had by all. Starting Friday with the Qualifying round, Pat Harold took out the Gross prize, with Mark Illsley the nett. The five par 3 approaches plus a wild card (me) went 100 metres down the 18th for a chip out for $1000. Congratulation Pat for your win here. Division winners Group 1, Tama Petera beat Micheal Seatter, Group 2 Caleb Jensen (Cape Turnagain) beat Tewai Hauiti, Group 3 Mike Matthews beat Barry Illsley, Group 4 Eru Hauiti beat Ben Neilson, and group 5 Hamish Illsley beat Basil Prestege (visitor). Ladies, Margaret Treacy beat Margaret Stephenson. Our thanks once again for the sponsorship for this event put forward by Barry Illsley Buiilding. Friday 16th - Sunday 18th; Barry Illsley Building sponsored 54-hole Matchplay Tournament. This year we have 5 mens groups of 8, and one ladies' group of 4. The event has right of way during the weekend., but there is still ample room for members (limited carts). Friday is qualifying, commencing on the number 1 tee at 9.30 with the final tee time being 10.40 am. Saturday will have one round of Matchplay starting mid-morning, and Sunday there will be two rounds of Matchplay with an earlier start. Open Championship Qualifying, Sat 21st February and Sat 14th March . Update # 13 Lands End. Red Pegs have been placed along the stump line, indicating a Hazard. Players may find their ball and play out (No Penalty) or if the ball cannot be found, play another ball from point of entry with a one-shot penalty . President Peter advises there is a large quantity of pine cones through the harvested area. Members are welcome to go down and bag them up for their own use. Vehicle entry across the course, and under the bridge by number 14, please. Beware of golfers and golf balls; entry at your own risk.
