Evening all,


Saturday 22nd July;  11am card draw. Duty this week is Craig & Norm Evans.  Please continue with Wiffin Cup and Sattrup & Brannigan matches. The Presidents Cup draw has not been produced yet, so we can clear some matches from the two competitions currently in play.


Saturday 5th August; a reminder of our SHB 27 Hole Strokeplay Tournament. Thanks to Brad Dippie, for the poster he has loaded onto our club facebook page. Lunch has been organised, with Barbara and Majken kindly offering their services. We require please some helpers to put an evening meal out around 6pm. In regards to this meal, as you are aware, we all well treated when we visit our country clubs for the Rosebowl competition It is our turn to reciprocate that generosity. We ask that members bring dinner food please, not packets of biscuits. Caseroles, Savory dishes, salads, cold meats, bacon & egg pies, vegetables, breads etc. Please advise Captain Mike what you are bringing, so he can answer questions about what else could be required. Thanks


Matariki; Thanks to the 50 players who turned out for last Fridays event. A clean cut with 25 Pakeha and 25 Maori players (thanks Takapau for your attendance). Bragging rights goes to the Pakeha players with a 29.3 aggregate versus the Maori aggregate of 26.5. A great day, with plenty of bluff and banter.


 Rules Course; Following the cancellation of the 2023 Rules Course due to Cyclone Gabrielle in February, the Hawkes Bay Golf Referees Association is very pleased to advise you that the Association will be running the 2023 Rules Course commencing on Tuesday 29th August at Hastings Golf Club.


If we get the predicted showers of rain and on Saturday the course will be back to square one in regards to wet under foot. Please be careful where you take your trundlers etc, so as to minimize damage on the course

👉Saturday 26th July; Matches please. Competitions still running are Wiffin Cup, Sattrup & Brannigan and Presidents Cup. Card draw 11.30am Duty Zane, house Majken 👉 Saturday 2nd August. SHB 27 Hole Strokeplay Tournament. Entries close Wednesday 30th July, for the draw publication on Thursday 31st July.. No post entries (No entries on the day) We currently have about 70 entries. Reminder; Members are asked to bring a plate for a shared meal after our 27 hole tournament. 👉 Saturday 9th August; Lui Paewai Trophy. Best stableford by a club member on the day. The Lui Paewai is a sort after Trophy. The forecast looks good for the weekend. If we have heavy frosts, please delay your start time so as not to burn the fairways and greens. Evening all, Saturday 19th July; Presidents Cup Round 1 Matchplay . Duty Match Committee Chalky, House Johnny Sunday 20th July, HGC event. A travel group from Hawkes Bay who visit a course once a month. Approximately 50 - 55 golfers, staring at 9am on Tees 1, 5, 10 and 16. Still plenty of room for locals. Please be aware that players are coming from four directions, so don't just jump on a tee, make sure you they are at least half a fairway away before starting in front of them. Captain Zane is looking for anyone who can help prepare 50 burgers for our visitors around 1pm. Evening all, Saturday 12th July; Presidents Cup Qualifying, Top 32 nett scores go through to seeded matchplay competition. Tom Irwin Putter. Please count your on the green putts, the player with the least putts wins the Tom Irwin Putter competition. Duty, Math committee Peter Gregory, House committee ? Sunday 20th July; The HGC Tour group will be playing Dannevirke at 9am. Between 50 and 55 players using a 4 tee start. Still room for our members, but please be aware of the players on the 9th and 18th fairways, as they may be carrying on, so don't assume they are stopping, and jumping in front of them.
