Captain Zane has reported in that our annual match Maori v Pakeha was today won by the pakeha team 33.8 aggregate stableford versus Maori 31.6. Thank you all for playing this event in the best spirits. 


Friday 7th / Saturday 8th February;  A brief reminder that we are hosting the Clubs NZ North Island Women's Teams Championship on these two days. Play commences off tee's one and ten at 8.30am, last group play off number one at 9.12am. As it is a Gross / Nett competition play could be a little slow. Please work with Bernie (in the Shop) and tournament committee and match committee before teeing off. Both days should be good to start after the tournament players clear the turn .


Saturday 8th February;    Card draw tee off approx 11.30am. Match duty,     House Stephen Paewai


Sunday 9th February;  Final day of the Motor Homes Association Tararua 3 course event.  Tee off for this event is 10.30am. Mike has asked for assistance serving the dinner and wash up from around 5 until 7pm?


Saturday 22nd February;  Marae Tournament 11am Shot Gun start. Entry sheet in the foyer please so a draw can be produced prior to the event. 


Friday 28th / March 1st;  Barry Illsley Sponsored 72 Hole Match Play Open. This event is definitely going ahead. Thursday will be qualifying day, followed by match play Friday and Saturday. This year we are playing groups of 8, which we plan to build up to 16 in future events. We appreciate timing has clashed with other Hawkes Bay events etc this year. . These are matters to work through before next years Tournament. If you haven't done so already and plan to play in the Tournament, please get your entries in quickly. 


Great to have our course utilised this weekend by two different Tournaments. Our hope being that our town and sponsors are appreciated by our visitors.

What's On 19 March 2026?

Saturday 21st March; Club Championships Round 1 Matchplay. Duty, Match Committee, House ?. If you have a Match, please convey that to the starters. Round 2 is not until May 2nd, so please keep communication with your opponent open so the matches can all be completed. Thank you to all who put names forward for the Championships. We have four draws, Senior, Intermediate A & B, and Junior A (all attached) compiled from names entered. Thanks, Pat Harold, for putting the draws together. Any questions or queries, please contact captains Zane or Peter. Sunday 22nd March; Pongaroa 27 Hole Strokeplay Tournament, Round two of the Ruahine Rosebowl. 8 am, tea & Coffee, 8.30 am tee off, $35 includes competition and food. Can we get a good muster, please, especially those looking for Coronation Cup selection. We require more than three, which we had at Norsewood, please. High School Ambrose: A thank-you note from the High School says it all. " Kia ora e te whānau, our golf tournament last weekend was awesome, with 105 golfers turning up to support our school and try their luck at winning $20 000! Unfortunately, no one was able to ‘sink a hole in one’ and win the money. A big thank you to Mr Amrit Pasad and all the staff and students who helped to make this event a success. We would also like to thank the Dannevirke Golf Course, our generous sponsors and our community for entering the tournament and participating in the fundraising activities held on the day. All profits of this event will go towards our students’ sports travel." Special General Meeting; Thank you to the 55 members who turned out Monday night for the purpose of " Setting the annual member subscription fees for the 2026 / 2027 year. " The conclusion being the annual subscriptions for 2026 / 2027 is $665 for full playing members. The Management Committee acknowledges their error in not advertising this as an Agenda item at the AGM in December. Matter sorted, repeat of error to be avoided, move on. Sat, March 14th, Dannevirke High School Ambrose Tournament, 11 am Tee off. I'm sure there will be space in the field for members not involved in the Ambrose, but I can't guarantee that, sorry. Sun, March 15th; Golf HB Pennants Round 3. Championship 1 Dvke v Hastings @ Dannevirke, Champ 3 Dvke v Maraenui at Maraenui, Handicap 2 Dvke v Maraenui at HB Golf Club, Handicap 3 Dvke v Napier at Hastings. Championship 1 grade play at home, tee off 8.30 am. Club members can commence after Pennant tee off, but please be mindful that fours coming through the turn have right of way. Sun, March 15th; (Reminder) This one is for the ladies!! Come and have a go! Bring a friend, or we'll find you a new one to play with. Make some "me" time and celebrate International Women's Day at Dannevirke Golf Club - come down and have some fun and laughs, followed by a drink or two after SOCIAL AMBROSE. 7 HOLES, 2 players per team. Friday, March 6th; As the course is closed until 1.30pm tomorrow, the Friday golfers are heading to Onga Onga. Leaving Mangatera Hotel car park at 10.30am. Saturday March 7th, Club day 11.15 am card draw for 11.30 am tee off. Duty Patrick & Peter Gregory. Saturday, March 7th ; Norsewood 27-hole Strokeplay Tournament. Round 1 of the 2026 Rosebowl. 8am tea/ coffee, with a start time of 8.30 am Coronation Cup; For all players that have put their names forward for Selection, there is a meeting this Saturday, Club day, 10.45 am in the dining room. Very quickly it will be! If any of these players are going to the Norsewood Rosebowl, well done, we will catch up with you during the week or the following weekend; otherwise, we will see the rest on Saturday. If you can't make it for any other reason, ring Tama 021408105 or Patrick in the shop, please don’t contact Zane, he is on holiday, leave him alone till he's back.
