Sunday 10th April; Round 3 GHB Pennants. Saturday  9th April; Club Championships Round 2 Matchplay. 11.30am card draw. Covid is still causing issues around town, with members being locked down, and maybe missing one or two weeks of golf. Please be patient and talk with your opponents. We have until May 7th to get to semi finals, so please show your sporting prowess and play these matches at your earliest opportunity.

Ladies Foursomes tournament 31st March.  A successful tournament very generously sponsored by our Life members Edith and Helen Martin was held last week. A field of 52 teed off to play a foursomes format. Representatives from surrounding clubs attended, with visitors from as far as Taupo, Masterton, Judgeford, most Hawkes Bay Clubs, and Manawatu. Our winners came from Rangitira, and runners up Pahiatua. A special thanks to the gentlemen from the vets who assisted with collating the cards and bar. Thank you to Joy for the catering and all the golf ladies who contributed to the day with morning tea, raffle prizes, and decorations. Again our course was pristine. Thanks to everyone.  Glenys


Vaccinate Mandate & Pennants Draw;  (from GHB Executive officer Andrew Jones) As you are all aware the Government has removed the need for Vaccine Mandates in our industry as of Tuesday. After this happened feedback from all clubs was sought regarding their stance going forward with the potential for us to drop our requirement to be vaccinated to participate in Golf Hawkes Bay events.


After receiving feedback from the vast majority of clubs regarding this requirement the decision has been made to remove need to provide proof of vaccination for Golf Hawkes Bay events Hopefully this should help teams having more players available for selection

.

If in the future this rule or something of the like needs to be implemented it will be done with feedback from the golf clubs.


Since it has been a little bit of times between rounds below is the draw for this weekend including the tee times that I have been sent. If host clubs could ensure that they have sent these to the respective teams would be much appreciated

Tuesday 19th April Seniors Visit to Palmerston North; Have spoken to Norm, our Club manager, & your green fees will be $20.00 per player & our Vets competition is $5.00 which includes the competition, twos, & two raffle tickets. If your fellows could go to the pro shop on arrival, pay their green fees & get their cards, & then come to the starters box to enter the competition, we will team them up with some of our members to mix up the field a bit. 


Looking forward to seeing you on the 19th. 


That winds up tonight's edition of What's On. Our course is a great condition at present given the rains came at the right time, and our fairways have recovered from the summer dry. Keep those matches rolling along.

Saturday 14th February; Club day at 11.30 am, Cards in please by 11.15. House Committee Gillian. Please keep going withthe Summer Cup Matches. Monday 16th February; Match Committee Meeting Mangatera Hotel 5 pm Result; On Friday, 6th, we played the annual Maori v Pakeha competition. 55 in the field, with a win this year to our Maori members with a Stableford average of 32.7 versus the Pakeha,& friends team with 29.1. Great win, folks. After 4 years of this competition, you have finally cracked it. Golf HB Pennants; Competition starts Sunday 22nd. Teams and Managers this year are Championship 1, Willie Harold, Championship 3, and Handicap 2, Tama Petera, Handicap 3, Tony Peeti. Any members wishing to play Pennants who have not already done so, please contact Captain Zane or any of the Managers. Veterans; We are now receiving entries for the Classic Days. (Dannevirke and Waipukurau). If you want to get an entry in, now is a good time. Monday/Tuesday 2nd/3rd March at Waipukurau, Thursday/Friday 5th/6th March at Dannevirke. Please note: this is for the very first time, a 9-hole competition, which is only available at Dannevirke. To enter, follow the formula as follows: Go to NZ vet’s website, Go to Homepage, Click on Entry Forms, Answer the questions that have an asterisk. e.g., Email, Name, Golf ID, Phone No, Gender, 18 or 9 hole option, Amount of payment, which is $60 at Waipukurau, $50 at Dannevirke, $30 at Dannevirke 9 Holes. SUBMIT. If all else fails, contact Warren Ridge or Gus Terry. Marae Tournament: This year’s tournament is on Saturday, 28 February. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will go to the Makirikiri Marae. You can enter by putting your name on the list is in the foyer. I’ve been given a certificate for a round of golf for 4 people at Cape Kidnappers. It has been decided to raffle this prize; tickets are available from Stephen Paewai, Tim Bell or Patrick Harold. (Notebook on the bar on competition days) The raffle will be drawn during the prize giving for the Marae Tournament. Regards Stephen. Carts: We have already had two disappointing incidents this year. Our new carts are there to use and be respected. Last Sunday (unknown driver) obviously drove up to another cart on number 14 tee and tried to push it, leaving black tyre marks and holes in the lime track. Just dumb! Appreciate we have visitors and members using our carts, but any such behaviour will be dealt to by the Management Committee. "Use them, don't abuse them" Greenstaff; With Kierane being a fully qualified Green Keeper, the committee and he decided it was a good time to start another Apprentice. The role was advertised before Christmas, and so it is good to welcome Liam Making to our Club. Great to have you on board, and all the best for the next few years, gaining a qualification. Kierane Given the amount of water we now have available, our greens are being well watered. Being softer than normal, please be aware of pitch marks on the Greens. Friday 6th February; Card draw 11.30 am, Maori versus the rest shield. Bring your " A" game, combined stableford for each team Saturday 7th February; Club day. Card draw at 11.30 am. What's On 29 January 2026?

Evening all, Saturday, January 31st; Card draw 11.30 am Duty Zane, House Scott. Summer Cup matches as advised last week to be continued . Friday, February 6th (Waitangi Day) 11.30 am tee off; Maori v the rest match. Always a great day with plenty of before and after banter. Golf HB Pennants 2026. Dannevirke has 4 teams playing in this competition, in the Championship 1 & 3 grades, plus Handicap 2 & 3 grades. These are teams of 6 playing match play all over the Golf HB Region, commencing Sunday 22nd February. Any new members interested in being part of a team, please advise Zane on Saturday. NZ Ambrose Golf Cup, round 12 qualifier at Saint Andrews Golf Club, Hamilton. Congratulations to "Young Boys" Te Wai, Graiden, Rani, and Eru Hauiti of their 1st place last weekend. 68 Gross 57.5 nett. Off to the finals Twilight Golf; Don't forget Twilight Golf is played every Thursday, 4.30 to 5.30 pm tee off during daylight savings months. Great opportunity to try out the game, introduce family and friends to golf, or hone a few new skills over 9 holes. The weather gods have been much kinder to us, than in some areas of the country. With approximately 112 mils of rain this month, the course has gone from a dry, plenty of run summer track to a lush green autumn track in a couple of weeks.
