Annual General Meeting. (Summary)

A good number attended last Mondays AGM.  Members appeared satisfied with the current state of the Club. Financially we came through the eight week lock down pretty well, but we did run a deficit for the year. Notable was the reduction in Grants this year in particular The Infinity Foundation which assisted us with wages last year to the tune of $43K this year $15k. Infinity no longer has machines in Dannevirke, so grants from them have ceased altogether.

With many members paying their subscriptions either weekly or monthly now, it was agreed to lift the subs by 50 cents per week, as we hadn't had an increase for some years and those in attendance felt a small increase was due.

Defibrillator, Well done to the ladies for getting training on the use of our defibrillator. A concern was that it is in a locked cabinet, but as previously mentioned in this forum, each and every one of you should have that code somewhere in or on your golf clubs. The code will be printed on next years bag tags, but in the interim please write down Code 201 to get the machine out of the box and ready for use  (Hopefully we never need to use it, but like a guide or scout be prepared)

Security; Again the issue of doors being left unlocked was raised. Please if you are a key holder, check all external doors before leaving the course. In regards the trundler shed, simply shutting the door does not lock the door. Please push LOCK  when the door is closed to complete the locking process.

Sale of the Farm House; progress was reported on by President Tony.. The house has been prepared for subdivision, and new fencing for the parcel of land has been erected. We have an Approval from Council to subdivide, which will be followed up by the actual Subdivision process and receiving a title for said block of land. Grounds and surrounds are to be tidied up prior to being placed on the open market.. Further details to follow as the process moves along.

The year 2020    The year has thrown us all a curve ball, but here we are, at the end of another calender and golfing year. To our course staff Keirane & Anthony, our sincere thanks. Miranda, many don't see you but your work as Secretary / treasurer is much appreciated . To the Management, and Committee Members and all our volunteers (bunkers, gardens, water buckets, cleaners, Clubhouse Manager, Builders, Electricians, Paintersl etc etc ) our sincere thanks for your contribution to Dannevirke Golf Club this past year.

As Saturday concludes our golfing year with Christmas Cheer, scribe is taking a break until 2021.  Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Good Golfing one and all

(Notebook on the bar on competition days) The raffle will be drawn during the prize giving for the Marae Tournament. Regards Stephen. Carts: We have already had two disappointing incidents this year. Our new carts are there to use and be respected. Last Sunday (unknown driver) obviously drove up to another cart on number 14 tee and tried to push it, leaving black tyre marks and holes in the lime track. Just dumb! Appreciate we have visitors and members using our carts, but any such behaviour will be dealt to by the Management Committee. "Use them, don't abuse them" Greenstaff; With Kierane being a fully qualified Green Keeper, the committee and he decided it was a good time to start another Apprentice. The role was advertised before Christmas, and so it is good to welcome Liam Making to our Club. Great to have you on board, and all the best for the next few years, gaining a qualification. Kierane Given the amount of water we now have available, our greens are being well watered. Being softer than normal, please be aware of pitch marks on the Greens. They may not always be yours, but please make a habit of repairing any you see. Thanks That wraps up this week. Have a good weekend, and hopefully the weather is not as bad as predicted. Good Golfing,๐Ÿ‘ Bryan Burt Club Scribe

Off to the finals Twilight Golf; Don't forget Twilight Golf is played every Thursday, 4.30 to 5.30 pm tee off during daylight savings months. Great opportunity to try out the game, introduce family and friends to golf, or hone a few new skills over 9 holes. The weather gods have been much kinder to us, than in some areas of the country. With approximately 112 mils of rain this month, the course has gone from a dry, plenty of run summer track to a lush green autumn track in a couple of weeks. Plenty of visitors keeping Pat busy, so come on out and enjoy our great course. See you soon. Good Golfing๐Ÿ‘ Bryan Burt Club Scribe
