Club NZ North Island Women's Golf Championship;  a reminder we have a meeting upstairs at the Golf Club Saturday at 10am please.

Annual General Business;  A slightly smaller muster than usual attended last Mondays AGM, which barely lasted for 30 minutes. No questions regarding the finances, and no questions were raised in General Business. President Peter asked Roger Ransom to speak to the gathered members regarding the work being done on the water system. All things being equal this work could be completed before Christmas.

2024 Committee;  President Peter Greatbatch, Vice Presidents Vaughan Hales & Mike Matthews, Club Captains (Team Gregory) Zane & Peter as joint captains, Vice Captain Mark Arnold, Match Committee, Joe Clark, Richie Gray, Bryan Burt, Bernie Williams, Ray Ward, Mike Matthews, Tony Peeti, Doug Lochead. Secretary / Treasurer;  Our current Secretary / treasurer Miranda Hobbs has tendered her resignation after 7 years in the roll. Thank you Miranda for all the work you do, that many don't see. An advert in this weeks Bush Telegraph outlines the position but in short, we are inviting expressions of interest in this job, Remuneration based on 20 hours per week. More information on the role and how to proceed will be sent on receipt of written interest and CV emailed to dannevirkegolf@xtra.co.nz or delivered to Peter Greatbatch at Greatbatch Building 16 Waterloo Street. Applications of interest close Monday 13th December

Life Membership;  I was honoured to be nominated by the Management Committee, as a Life Member of the Dannevirke Golf Club. The nomination was put forward by President Peter, and Doug Lochead, and approved by the members in attendance at the AGM. In short, this was for my three terms as Club Captain, three years as President, Golf Hawkes Bay delegate for most of the last 30 years, and Scribe since 2012. Thank you all.  I appreciate the recognition.

Around the Club;

Cart Shed;  Greatbatch Builders have been tasked with repairs and refitting the current trundler / cart shed to allow for the storage of extra carts. Some work has already happened, with the new concrete in from of the trundler shed. I new roller door will be fitted on the tank side of the cart shed to create a drive through, plus the internal wall is being moved between the cart part, and the trundler shed, to uitilize the area better. President Peter has asked that where possible, members take their golfing gear home over Christmas and the new year, to give the builder clear space to work. (If next week is wet, they will be into it)

Shop; Ray (Chalky ) Ward has put his hand up to run the shop (certain days) over the summer as was trialed last year.  This assists in capturing Green Fees etc from non members, and campers. If you are out there, call in and have a chat, which will help fill in Chalky's day.

Smoking;  A request again from our cleaner Majken. Still picking up butts outside the foyer. Last week end an ashtray was used behind the bar.(Grrr) Smokers please, use the deck out back by the recycling bins. Camera's will be used to identify anyone smoking indoors!

Key Register;  Tony Peeti has asked that all key holders either see him at work, or at the golf Club with your key, to sign the updated register. If you no longer require a key, please hand these into Tony. Appreciated if members could do this by 20th December, so the process doesn't drag on. Thanks

Feb 27th / 28th March 1st 2025,  Barry Illslie Building Men's 72 hole Match Play Open ( Details attached ) A reminder for members to get entries in for this event.

A bit of reading tonight, that should keep you all up to date. With the Christmas Cheer being our final event on the playing year, it seems appropriate the What's On takes a break for a couple of weeks, until instructed by the new Captain to send out some information. Thanks to Past Captain Mike for assisting this year, with What's On when I have been out of circulation. On behalf of the management committee, I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and prosperous New Year.

Good Golfing,👍

Saturday, April 25th, Anzac Day. Golf will commence at 12 noon, as we ask members not to play on the morning of Anzac Day. 11.45 am card draw. 12 noon tee off. Best member stableford of the day wins the Waitahora Cup, plus the men play the ladies for a Shield. Aggregate Stableford points. Duty Zane House Gillian. Special Event: We have a guest speaker at 4 pm. All welcome. Coronation Cup Finals Sat 23rd & Sun 24th May; Porongahau has been confirmed as the host for this year's final. Team announcement later. Trundler Shed; The committee are concerned at the continual abuse of this shed. It is supposed to be a locked place to keep clubs secure if you don't want to take them home after each round. Security is consistently compromised as the door is left unlocked and held open with the steel bar while everyone is out playing. Not much security when that happens. Last night's discussion suggested that we cease to provide this service after 1st June. Anyone with concerns etc regarding this move are asked to send a reply to sender email to me, which will be collated and considered at our next meeting. Subscriptions : Bailey reported last night that all members who pay annually have been sent an email invoice. Weekly and monthly payers will be receiving their invoices shortly. If you have a message to increase or decrease your payments, please action as soon as possible. It is very time-consuming allocating these payments, so if you account is in credit and you are asked to stop payments, please do so; likewise, if you are behind with payments, check your balance, divide it by five, and that is what you owe to be clear by 30th September, being the end of our financial year. Any queries, please email dannevirkegolf@xtra.co.nz , or talk to Patrick, please. A lot of rain this week, so if you are driving a cart, please keep to the tracks. Number 17 fairway is not to be driven on, please use the track to the right and walk across to your ball if you are not at the top of the hill. Clearly, two carts made quite a mess there last Sunday and lost traction on the hill. In short, Don't Go There. Have a great weekend, folks, and we hope to get a good muster for our Anzac Day event. A big shout-out to Takapau for hosting everyone. The course was looking sharp, and the hospitality was brilliant. Thanks to our members who caddied and were there to support the team all weekend. Three wins, Richie Stephenson, Jacob Stephenson, Raniera Hauiti, and Bryan Burt. 2, 1/2 wins Amrit Prasad, Timmy Bell, John Garnett, Harley Hauiti, and Tewai Hauiti . Waitahora Cup for the players with the most Stableford points. Men v Ladies Shield on aggregate stableford. All four teams travel for this round. Handicap 2 & 3 still have a chance of making the finals! Summer Cup; Amrit and I did battle last Saturday. Finally, I have my name on a club trophy. Great match, thanks, Amrit. Sisters Club, Queen's Birthday in Patea; S orry for missing a number of people at the proposed meeting a couple of weeks ago, I assumed it would be a normal Saturday and turned up at 5 pm to discover only a small number of people played that day, and most of those that did had gone home. I’m at golf this Saturday, so we’ll have a meeting following the prize giving. From my informal enquiries, it looks like we’ll have a group of about 24 going to Patea. I’ve booked accommodation at the Kerry Lane motel in Hawera. I’m currently looking at transport options. The most likely is a couple of vans. We will then require a couple of drivers for Saturday and Sunday. Regards Stephen Best wishes to our Coronation Cup team at Takapau, let's hope the cyclone heads out east and gives us a miss. For those turned off by the weather, there is always the Masters at Augusta to watch from the dry comfort of your lounge chair. Good Golfing👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe
