Greens Staff; Given we have had 60 mils of rain in the past couple of days, things have changed at our course. The bare patches may or may not recover before winter (subject to growth) so the staff have asked for some assistance from members to protect what we have. In the short term, if there is a track, please use it, If there is a bare patch of ground, please refrain from driving carts, pulling trundlers, or simply walking on it. Treat the course like you would a newly sown lawn at home. We don't know what the winter has ahead for us, so the better we protect it now, the better our chances at keeping it open all the time. As members we are all guardians of our course, not just Mike and the match committee. If you see visitors, or green fee players treating our fairways etc badly, speak to them politely. If they don't know they are doing wrong they won't change their behaviour. The is simply no use telling everyone upstairs what you observed two weeks later. If need be, temporary fencing will be erected, but our first request is for common sense to prevail. And yes, the tee blocks will be widened slightly to assist.
Driveway; Management committee, met, discussed and agreed. The speed hump stays, as is where is. If you have been into the course since sealing, you know where it is, so keep your speed down, and you won't hit it, and hit the roof of your car. Paint will be added, but when our busy committee members are free to do so, not because any individual member thinks it has to be done yesterday. Part two, regarding the surplus chip. There was a plan than has been interrupted. The chip was swept to the middle, and a road sweep truck was going to pick it all up. Unfortunately the truck is broken down presently. Early next week, it will be swept again, and the chip will be picked up by shovel and broom. Sweeping it off the side of the road wasn't an option, as the chip would then be a problem for the mowers.
Big weekend for the Coronation Cup team. Good luck and play well.
Good Golfing👍
