What's On 8 August 2025?

Saturday 9th August; Lui Paewai Trophy. (best stableford score across the field, men's & ladies) Duty Pete Gregory, House?
Another call to members still involved in Wiffin Cup, Sattrup & Brannigan, and Presidents Cup. Please get your matches played, so the next round can take place.
SHB 27 Hole Strokeplay Tournament; Congratulations to Brad Truesdale, the winner of the 2025 event. After a one-hour frost delay, the field got going at 9 am, making it a long day, with the last two groups of Seniors and Intermediates coming in around 5.30 pm. The daily winner of the Rosebowl competition was Pongaroa, who take a large lead into the final Tournament at Takapau.
A gentle reminder here, please. It is the responsibility of the senior-most player in the group to keep his group of players no more than half a fairway behind the group in front of you. Gaps in the field of one or two fairways are unacceptable.
On a lighter note, Captain Zane would like to thank everyone who entered the tournament. Closing entries on Wednesday helped in that a starting draw could be done and put on Facebook before the day. Imagine the chaos if 92 players had arrived on Saturday and trying to do a draw. Thank you also to the members who brought plates for the evening's shared meal. The array of dishes and quantity meant nobody should have left there hungry. Thank you, ladies, for assisting Gemma, serving the meal, and cleaning up afterwards. Great effort, folks. Thanks to the members of the match committee for assisting Zane & Pete to get the results out, and thanks, Pat (Harold Golf) for entering the entries into the computer and sorting the cards into fours, for Saturday morning.
As always, key stakeholders in the event will be asked for their input into a review of this years event, so we can take lessons learnt into next years tournament.
Friday 29th August; Course Closed. Hosting the annual Master Builders Association 18-hole Ambrose Tournament. This involves a large field of those involved in the building industry from Manawatu, Hawkes Bay, and Tararua districts.
Greens Staff: A clarification from our greens staff. On the rare occasion the sign goes up prohibiting the use of carts (wet weather), the term carts includes club and private carts, as well as three and two-wheel motorbikes. Thank you.
That concludes this week's summary of events. Hopefully the weather plays ball on Saturday and we get a reasonable field for the Lui Paewai.
Good Golfing👍
