The names in brackets are the committee members responsible for that grade.
A number of people have advised either Mike Matthews or myself of their unavailability and if we don’t see you regularly and you don’t normally play in the Club Champs you haven’t been included in the draw.
I hope to have the draw up on Saturday and I’m happy to make changes up until Wednesday, so if you’re in but don’t want to be in I’ll give you till Weds 11 March to withdraw. If you can’t play on Saturday 14 March discuss with your opponent first then let a match committee member know, their names are in brackets above, and we’ll grant dispensation.
I wish to publish the draw for Sat. 14 March in next weeks What’s on.
Remember if you don’t want to play or can’t play let a committee member know asap please.
Thanks Stephen
Short and sweet tonight, having just come home from Whangarei The Dannevirke & districts team performed very well up there, with Alan Small, Jim Harold & James Walker performing well in the three day pairs event, and Glen Mc Clelland taking out the hackers & Hunter on Wednesday with 44 points. On Monday Peter Bourke (Retired publican at the post Office hotel in Pahiatua) and Jim Harold took out our in house competition with 45 points, followed by James Walker, Jim Harold and Steve Boyens (Retired publican Rongotea) with 40. Tuesday Alan Small went one better and came in with 46 points, ahead of James Walker on 40 and Jim Harold, Peter Bourke and Wayne Quigan on 37. Wednesday was Glens day with 44, followed by James and Jim on 39. The balance of the team just couldn't get a look in . Quote of the trip for me came from Alan Small " they don't call it Mount Denbee for nothing" Whangarei Golf Club is Mount Denbee. Rather impressive looking from the 10th tee down hill 488 meters to a green with a lake to the front right of it. When you get to the green, you realise at some point you need to get back to the Clubhouse level, and that will take some serious uphill walking. Our 16th is a breeze compared to their tow rope assisted walk from the 15th to the 16th tee, to have in front of you an uphill par 4 hole. As always a fun filled trip.
Please, as asked by Stephen Paewai above , if you want out of the Championships this year please say so now. Its disappointing when we prepare a draw to find someone say they didn't want to be included, giving their opponent a free passage to the next round..
Good Golfing,
