What's On 1 December 2023?

Saturday 2nd December; Card Draw 11.30am Duty, Stephen & Joe
Monday 4th December; AGM in the clubhouse at 7.30pm. A reminder the annual booklets are available from the clubhouse, there has been no mass mail out this year. For members who cannot attend the AGM, and want a booklet mailed, please email the Secretary on dannevirkegolf@xtra.co.nz
Saturday 9th December; Shires sponsored Christmas Cheer, 12 noon shot gun start. Entry sheet is up in the clubhouse. Carts; Bookings for carts for Christmas Cheer must go through Captain Mike.
Golf Hawkes Bay; The annual programme setting meeting was held on Monday in Hastings. Now NZ Golf and Golf HB have set their programme, we can commence to build ours.
Discussion items. Coronation Cup. We now have 4 zones with 4 clubs in each. Waipukurau & Waipawa combined to get one team. There was discussion again on weather we want to redraw the zones. In our case Zone3 currently has Pongaroa, Cape Turnagain, Norsewood and Dannevirke. What is being proposed, is that our zone and the next one up, including Takapau, Waipukurau/Waipawa, Porongahau and Hastings will all go into a draw to get two new zones of four, which will stay in place for four years so that every club has a hosting year. This needs to be discussed at Club level and a voting direction will be needed for another GHB meeting in December. Weather we stay with the status quo or proceed with the new proposal will be decided on a one club one vote decision at that meeting.
Pennents; This competition also has a possible competition change. As some clubs have more players available, one option is to add Handicap division 5, Indications on Monday were that there were at least 3 teams for this grade, but six are required. Option 2, was to increase the number of players in all Handicap grades to 8, rather than the current 6. Championship Pennents do not change. Again this needs to be discussed at club level before December.
With the sale of the house completed this past year, there is plenty to report on at the AGM, so a good attendance would be great. President Tony is also standing down at this meeting, so come along and thank him for his service to the club.
Good Golfing
