Saturday 2nd September; Card draw 11am Duty Richie Gray & helpers

Saturday 2nd September; Takapau 30 Hole Strokeplay Tournament.  8am Cup of tea 8.30am Tee off (will notify if different). This is the final round of the 2023 Ruahine Rosebowl competition, and we and Pongaroa are currently tied in first place. Looks like we have good numbers attending. Good luck

Clubhouse;  Private Function. The club is hosting a private function, a birthday celebration, on Saturday 2 September. As a result the upstairs lounge will be closed on Friday and Saturday. Could golfers please use the downstairs facilities.  On Saturday 16 September we are hosting the Aotea Sports Club’s annual prize giving, as we’ve done for the past couple of years. The upstairs lounge will be closed on the Friday and Saturday. A reminder will be posted in the What’s on email on 14 September.  Thanks for your co operation.

Recycling;  We are about 90% there with our recycling efforts, but we are still creating a lot of work for Peter Greatbatch, who takes the bins into town . We are getting contaminated bins. Each bin holds one thing and one thing only. Cardboard, clear glass, brown glass or green glass. Nothing else. No food scraps, no bottle tops, no general rubbish. Bottle tops are easy, there is a rubbish bin in the bar for them, and there is a skip bin in the car park for for club house rubbish and food scraps.  Please lets keep it simple, so Peter can whip in, load the bins and take them to town without finding any free gifts. The bins are is under camera, so if need be, we will find the dumpers.

Lui Paewai Trophy; Congratulations to Rainier Davies for winning the Lui Paewai Trophy last Saturday. 46 stablefords if I remember correctly. Thanks Margaret for the photo. Tried to attach it but not sure I have been successful.

Best of luck to our members heading to Takapau. For those staying closer to home, head on out and enjoy the start of spring golf. The frosts this week will have helped dry the top of the course a bit.

Good Golfing, 👍

" Kia ora e te whānau, our golf tournament last weekend was awesome, with 105 golfers turning up to support our school and try their luck at winning $20 000! Unfortunately, no one was able to ‘sink a hole in one’ and win the money. A big thank you to Mr Amrit Pasad and all the staff and students who helped to make this event a success. We would also like to thank the Dannevirke Golf Course, our generous sponsors and our community for entering the tournament and participating in the fundraising activities held on the day. All profits of this event will go towards our students’ sports travel." Special General Meeting; Thank you to the 55 members who turned out Monday night for the purpose of " Setting the annual member subscription fees for the 2026 / 2027 year. " The conclusion being the annual subscriptions for 2026 / 2027 is $665 for full playing members. The Management Committee acknowledges their error in not advertising this as an Agenda item at the AGM in December. Matter sorted, repeat of error to be avoided, move on. We are in the thick of Match Play golf with GHB Pennants and now Club Champs, and in April, the Coronation Cup. I hope all participants enjoy the experience. Good Golfing👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe
