Saturday 19th September, 11am Card Draw
Presidents Cup. Finalists are Timmy Bell and Doug Stewart, good luck gentlemen
Cape Turnagain Firms Day; Five of our club members headed to Herbertville last Friday for the firms day. Wind rain and hail greated them over the first few holes, followed by a slight inprovement. Billy T, played seven holes then sort the shelter of the Clubhouse, but others continued on Captain Mike came in second behind a 54 handicapper scoring 44 points, Mike shot 74 to gather 39 points. I must confess, I did load my clubs into the ute Friday morning, but wasn't convinced at 10.30 to head to the coast, or indeed at 11.30 to head out to Dannevirke. Must be getting soft, when work beats playing golf.
From Ken Barnett; Seniors; On Wednesday 16th Sept, 16 Seniors traveled to Paraparaumu Golf Club for 18 holes with the mid week men down there. A fine sunny day greeted us with a gentle wind. The course was in fine order with a lot of run on the fairways and fast greens. Best scoring from Dannevirke players were Bill Newland 37 stb , Kevin Jameson 33 and Gus Terry. A great day our enjoyed by all.
Ken mentioned Christian Cullen was in the field but not drawn with Dannevirke players, and was very close to holing out on one of their par 3's. Indeed last Saturday the same could be said for David Hurrell who went just past the hole on number 3. Never mind there's always next time.
Club Hire; Last weekend we had two functions at the Clubhouse. Friday night the Aotea Sports Club had their end of season prize giving, and on Saturday evening a surprise 60th was held. Thanks to the members who assisted as barmen, a busy weekend. Anyone able to assist with these functions please notify Stephen Paewai, as he coordinates with hire'rs and arranges all staff for the functions.
With the competitions drawing to an end this season, we will soon be heading into daylight saving and the extended hours the course can be played. Make the most of the opportunity.
Good Golfing
