Local Rule Hole 9
(Information provided by Bob McKee, and forwarded for inclusion by Captain Mike)
The area marked by Blue Pegs around the GUR and the path are tied together and treated as a single Abnormal Course Condition.(ACC) The Only Free Relief available is that the player, if he/she takes relief, must go to the Drop Zone. For the purposes of this rule the Drop Zone is a closely mown area at the bottom of the path. The relief under Rule 16.1 is NOT available in this case.
To All Members.
There has been over recent times many discussions among members over the procedure to be followed when a ball is on the path at number 9 hole.
Due to the continuous repositioning of the flag stick it is difficult to estimate fairly the Nearest Point of Relief.
The committee have sought advice from Hawkes Bay Golf and the USGA and after careful consideration have decided to implement the above rule. (Model Local Rule F3.1)
Note: To get free relief the ball must be in the marked area or the area must affect the players stance or swing.
To prevent a ball being lost in this area the Green keeper has undertaken to keep the area free of growth. If the ball is not found within 3 minutes of searching the player must return to the tee, unless it is known or virtually certain that the ball is lost in the ACC. (Abnormal Course Condition)
Placing after a drop is permitted when the preferred lie rule is in operation.
PS As it is raining the pegs have not been painted yet but will be first chance the green keepers can & will be blue (Captain Mike)
Heavy rain tonight folks. Hope the weather turns, and we get out at the weekend and enjoy our beautiful course.
Good Golfing,
