Great to see so many play the Summer Cup Qualifying round last Saturday. I believe there were more than fifty players over the two days, with the majority playing Saturday. Captain Mike has completed the draw as below. Anyone wanting to play their Match this week can do so, but the actual first round is not scheduled until Saturday 29th. Top qualifier was Johnny Edwards on 68 nett and in 32nd place was Stephen Paewai on 76. Sorry folk 77 and above missed the cut.

Draw, J Edwards v S Paewai, T Dela Harpe v D Maken, C Evans v G Freeman, J Clarke v B Dippie, B Williams v A Prasad, R Henricksen v W K Newland, W Petera v B Burt, R Olsen v D Hurrell, D Stewart v T Peeti, S Hikawai v G Stringer, M Filer v P Gregory, W Ridge v V Hales, N Evans v C Mason, J Bassett v L Hurrell, Z Gregory v R Te Ture, L Paewai v S Evans.

Saturday 22nd January; 11.30am tee Off Card Draw.

Management Committee Meeting. 19th January;

Carts, the club has taken purchased two new carts, which are now on course.  One of the mishaps of the Covid lock down last year, was the carts were on charge and unused for the entire period. This has damaged the batteries, so we have ordered 12 new batteries (speaking with our insurers)

The card machine has been set up, and the television upstairs is now connected, so going forward, once your card is entered, the days results and twos will roll across the screen, from top score to bottom. Peter Greatbatch is project managing the permanent installation of the card machine, to give access at all times, as well as having the eftpos machine there for green fee / camping payments. If anyone is away at another course playing, please take photos of their set up so Peter can glean ideas.   The idea being to have it in the foyer, out of the weather, providing an easy flow of person getting and printing card, but with access back to the shop,  Security being the second consideration.

Mainland Foundation, For our financial year 1st October 2021 to date we have had wage grants of $19,360 from Mainland. Thanks Miranda for the work putting in the applications every two months.

Found Clubs; If any member picks up a lost club on the course, please leave it at the shop and advise Captain Mike or President Tony, as if it has been lost by a visitor, they are the most likely persons to be contacted. Likewise if a club is labelled and put out in the foyer for collection, please leave it there. This is a secure area, as it is under security camera, so we can trace who picked up or removed said item.

The men's changing room was cleared of old bags etc last Monday, and the trundler sheds cleared out to accommodate the two new carts. President Tony has a Titleist AP2, 4 iron in near new condition if anyone is missing theirs.

Dress Standards. For our new members, Our club requests that men play in a collared shirt. Again if members see someone teeing off wearing only a singlet, please advise them of our club request. We can all do this as Club members, rather than running to Captain Mike every time.

Pitch marks. Amazing the number of people who believe they don't make a pitch mark. If you ball lands on the green on the full, please look for and repair the pitch mark ( Repairers in the shop) If you are unsure of the correct procedure, ask a fellow player.

Golf HB programme has a few disputes currently, so a match committee meeting will be held next Tuesday night to finalize Pennant and Coronation Cup dates

That's it folk. If you are traveling this week end, do so safely. If you are golfing, play well, and if you are playing a match, good luck.

Good Golfing

Our new carts are there to use and be respected. Last Sunday (unknown driver) obviously drove up to another cart on number 14 tee and tried to push it, leaving black tyre marks and holes in the lime track. Just dumb! Appreciate we have visitors and members using our carts, but any such behaviour will be dealt to by the Management Committee. "Use them, don't abuse them" Greenstaff; With Kierane being a fully qualified Green Keeper, the committee and he decided it was a good time to start another Apprentice. The role was advertised before Christmas, and so it is good to welcome Liam Making to our Club. Great to have you on board, and all the best for the next few years, gaining a qualification. Kierane Given the amount of water we now have available, our greens are being well watered. Being softer than normal, please be aware of pitch marks on the Greens. They may not always be yours, but please make a habit of repairing any you see. Thanks That wraps up this week. Have a good weekend, and hopefully the weather is not as bad as predicted. With approximately 112 mils of rain this month, the course has gone from a dry, plenty of run summer track to a lush green autumn track in a couple of weeks. Plenty of visitors keeping Pat busy, so come on out and enjoy our great course. See you soon. Good Golfing๐Ÿ‘ Bryan Burt Club Scribe
