Twilight Golf;  Thursday 28th March will see twilight golf conclude for the 2024 season. A BBQ will follow golf. Tee off no later than 5.30pm please

Coronation Cup;  With the new zones in place, we will be hosting on the weekend of Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April. The zone clubs for the next 4 years are Dannevirke, Cape Turnagain, Takapau, and Porangahau.  Team to be anounced this weekend, and in next weeks W.O. One change in format is that we will play two rounds Saturday and one Sunday. Reason being, if the weather turns bad Saturday, we have the option of playing 27 holes, then completing the second round Sunday morning before the third round. Not necessarily ideal, but an option all the same.

DANNEVIRKE HIGH SCHOOL AMBROSE GOLF TOURNAMENT, 2024

This year we had 41 teams (123 players) participating in our annual fundraiser golf tournament. The hole-in-one for $20,000 was not struct. Hopefully someone is lucky next year. This helped us raise about $4500.00 on the day apart from the donations from the sponsors.

A special thanks to all the sponsors who sponsored a hole, gave us prizes and contributed in one way or the other to make this a success. A big thanks to Scanpower Limited for being the main sponsor and Dannevirke Golf Club for letting us use the golf course free of charge. Thanks, Mike Matthews, for helping on the day.

I would like to thank all those people who played in this tournament and all the teachers and students/prefects who helped to make this tournament a huge success.

(Amrit Prasad – teacher in-charge for golf)

Membership cards and bag tags,   Miranda will be in the shop Saturday between 10am and 12 noon to distribute membership envelopes. Anyone wanting to pay their sub while Miranda is on site, are welcome to do so.

Club is not a bank;  If possible can members please arrive at the Golf Club with cash for the competition. It has become very time consuming processing cash outs and eftpos payments for shop sales etc while trying to sort the groups for the day. For obvious reasons we don't hold much cash, so getting it from town before arrival will assist the Match Committee starters.

Another weekend with members spread far and wide to compete in competition golf, either at Pennants or the Pongaora Strokeplay Tournament. Good luck to you all, and travel safely.

Evening all, Saturday 4th May; Club Champs semi Finals, 11.30am card draw for balance of field. Match Committee duty Timmy House Committee Stephen Golf Hawkes Bay Pennants; Competition for this year wound up last week after five rounds. The top two teams from each division now play finals. Unfortunately we don't have any teams in the finals this year, but after five round Champ Division 1 finished 5th, Champ 3 finished 6th, and Handicap 2 & 4 both finished 3rd. Thanks to all players and team organizers who have made themselves available this year. Pennats offers both experience in match play, plus a chance to play other GHB courses. Wiffin Cup; The draw is attached, with first round games to be played on or before Sat 13th May, Round 2 is Saturday 17th June. Ample time to contact your opponent and get these matches played please. Sister Clubs; One month to go and we’ll have 70 visitors from our 3 Sister Clubs contesting the 52 nd playing of the Sister Club Quadrangular Tournament. If you want to play, put your name on the list in the foyer. Also, we need assistance to run the tournament. If you are able to help and have a spare couple of hours either on Saturday 1 June or Sunday 2 June please contact Stephen Paewai. We may need at up to 40 trundlers, this will make it easier for our visitors rather than having their vans cluttered with an assortment of trundlers. Regards Stephen. Driveway; The excess chip has now been swept, and picked up. Two speed bumps have been added, one about 50 meters inside the gate, and the other at the entry to the car park. Speed restrictions continue to apply. The predicted rain was minimal (4mm in town) so there may still be some summer run out there. Come on out and enjoy it while it lasts. Regards Stephen Designated car parks; Car parks facing the club house have designated position names on them. Please keep them free for those people Bunkers, divots, pitch marks; We have a handful of members who spend many hours raking bunkers for us. That doesn't mean if you go in them you don't need to rake them. Please always without exception, rake the bunkers before exiting to remove foot and ball marks. Likewise pitch marks on greens and divots on fairways and in the rough should be repaired or replaced. Trundler Shed; Yet again can I remind members using the trundler shed, If you walk out and just push the door behind you, it is not locked. You need to push the bottom right hand button once the door is closed, so that the electronic locking devise can work. PLEASE, the door is being left unlocked day after day. Plenty of Golf happening at the Club this weekend. Good luck to members playing matches and Pennants. Good Golfing Bryan Burt Club Scribe 👍
