Answer to a question; (Google search) What Is the Penalty for Hitting Someone Else's Ball in Golf?
- Stroke Play. The standard penalty for playing the wrong ball during stroke play is the loss of two strokes.
- Match Play. A player who hits someone else’s ball in match play loses the hole, according to Rule 15-3a
Question 2. Relates to a ball on the track on number 9. . I am not a referee, so I stand to be corrected, but my understanding is. A ball coming to rest on the track, can be dropped from the track and played from the drop zone, (mowed area at the bottom front of the track. No penalty) The bank area above and below the metal roadway. You have the option to play the ball from where it lies, or take a drop and play it as above, but in this case a penalty shot must be counted, as the bank is not the track
If I've messed this up, please forgive me, no doubt I will be corrected before next week. That being the case, there will be a better forum for answering these questions than What's On

Reminder; Members are asked to bring a plate for a shared meal after our 27 hole tournament. 👉 Saturday 9th August; Lui Paewai Trophy. Best stableford by a club member on the day. The Lui Paewai is a sort after Trophy. The forecast looks good for the weekend. If we have heavy frosts, please delay your start time so as not to burn the fairways and greens. Evening all, Saturday 19th July; Presidents Cup Round 1 Matchplay . Duty Match Committee Chalky, House Johnny Sunday 20th July, HGC event. A travel group from Hawkes Bay who visit a course once a month. Approximately 50 - 55 golfers, staring at 9am on Tees 1, 5, 10 and 16. Still plenty of room for locals. Please be aware that players are coming from four directions, so don't just jump on a tee, make sure you they are at least half a fairway away before starting in front of them. Captain Zane is looking for anyone who can help prepare 50 burgers for our visitors around 1pm.
