Battle of the Saddle; Played last Saturday between Dannevirke greenwood players and Manawatu Golf Club top Pennants team 10 Singles and 5 four ball matches, going Final score 11/4 to Dannevirke. Great result team


Saturday 12th / Sunday 13th October;  Greenwood Cup Rounds 1-3 at Onga Onga, Last Saturday the 2024 Greenwood squad were presented with their shirts. The 12 man squad is Craig Nash (Captain) Brad Dippie, Peter Gregory, Willie Harold, Hamish Prenter, Patrick Harold, Clay Lochead, Rhys Harold, Greg Vigers, Chris Mason, Syd Hikawai, Brad Truesdale. Team playing order has to be in next Wednesday, so will be revealed in next weeks What's On. 


Sisters Club;   Dannevirke Golf Club Fundraising for the Sister's weekend. On the 10th November we will be holding a three-person ambrose tournament. One of the players must be a non-golfer. $25 entry fee per person and this includes your green fees, dinner and prizes. Tee off is 10 am and we encourage early registrations but will take registrations on the day so get your team together! Registrations to Stephen Paewai.

For our members that are going to the Sister's Tournament, can you please bring a plate for dinner and a prize for the table. We will be wrapping them, so you can bring them already wrapped or we can sort that for you. We also encourage you to bring the prizes over the next four weeks and then we can get them sorted (wrapped). Please give them to Mark or Myself.

Wai Splash Ambrose Fundraiser;   Thursday November 28th Check In 10.30am Shotgun Start 11am. $10,000 Hole In One, $165 for team of 3 includes Golf & Supper. Entries to www.waisplash.org


Cart Shed,   An application to Pub Charity has been successful, and the Club has received $40K towards a new larger cart shed. The current shed is a bit of a squeeze, and we are able to future proof the Club for members wishing to house carts (at a Cost) and the growing number of Club carts.


Some nice days this week, so hopefully they carry over to the weekend.

Evening all, Saturday, January 31st; Card draw 11.30 am Duty Zane, House Scott. Summer Cup matches as advised last week to be continued . Friday, February 6th (Waitangi Day) 11.30 am tee off; Maori v the rest match. Always a great day with plenty of before and after banter. Golf HB Pennants 2026. Dannevirke has 4 teams playing in this competition, in the Championship 1 & 3 grades, plus Handicap 2 & 3 grades. These are teams of 6 playing match play all over the Golf HB Region, commencing Sunday 22nd February. Any new members interested in being part of a team, please advise Zane on Saturday. NZ Ambrose Golf Cup, round 12 qualifier at Saint Andrews Golf Club, Hamilton. Congratulations to "Young Boys" Te Wai, Graiden, Rani, and Eru Hauiti of their 1st place last weekend. 68 Gross 57.5 nett. Off to the finals Twilight Golf; Don't forget Twilight Golf is played every Thursday, 4.30 to 5.30 pm tee off during daylight savings months. Great opportunity to try out the game, introduce family and friends to golf, or hone a few new skills over 9 holes. The weather gods have been much kinder to us, than in some areas of the country. With approximately 112 mils of rain this month, the course has gone from a dry, plenty of run summer track to a lush green autumn track in a couple of weeks. Saturday 24th January; Summer Cup Round 1 Matchplay. Duty Match Committee House Baz Mott Summer Cup Draw; Byes, Johnny Edwards, Bryan Burt, Amrit Prasad, Tama Petera. G Freeman v D Treacy Jnr, S Hikawai v Marg Treacy, Z Gregory v T Neilson, B Williams v T Peeti, V Hales v R Henricksen, J Bassett v B Mott, C Peck v S Beale, R Martin v T Albert, P Drummond v T Crawford, T Bell v N Evans, D Maken v M Filer, Billy Te Ture v M Matthews. Barrie Illsley Building sponsored 54 Hole Matchplay Tournament; A great weekend was had by all. Starting Friday with the Qualifying round, Pat Harold took out the Gross prize, with Mark Illsley the nett. The five par 3 approaches plus a wild card (me) went 100 metres down the 18th for a chip out for $1000. Congratulation Pat for your win here. Division winners Group 1, Tama Petera beat Micheal Seatter, Group 2 Caleb Jensen (Cape Turnagain) beat Tewai Hauiti, Group 3 Mike Matthews beat Barry Illsley, Group 4 Eru Hauiti beat Ben Neilson, and group 5 Hamish Illsley beat Basil Prestege (visitor). Ladies, Margaret Treacy beat Margaret Stephenson. Our thanks once again for the sponsorship for this event put forward by Barry Illsley Buiilding. Great work by Peter Gregory and his committee, ladies for the catering, local sponsors, and all the members who participated. Bring on 2027. Summer Cup draw is out and matches are ready to go. Friday 16th - Sunday 18th; Barry Illsley Building sponsored 54-hole Matchplay Tournament. This year we have 5 mens groups of 8, and one ladies' group of 4. The event has right of way during the weekend., but there is still ample room for members (limited carts). Friday is qualifying, commencing on the number 1 tee at 9.30 with the final tee time being 10.40 am. Saturday will have one round of Matchplay starting mid-morning, and Sunday there will be two rounds of Matchplay with an earlier start. Open Championship Qualifying, Sat 21st February and Sat 14th March . Update # 13 Lands End. Red Pegs have been placed along the stump line, indicating a Hazard. Players may find their ball and play out (No Penalty) or if the ball cannot be found, play another ball from point of entry with a one-shot penalty . President Peter advises there is a large quantity of pine cones through the harvested area. Members are welcome to go down and bag them up for their own use. Vehicle entry across the course, and under the bridge by number 14, please. Beware of golfers and golf balls; entry at your own risk.
