Twilight Golf and Dannevirke Golf Club

Saturday 9th November;  Closing Day & Prize Giving. 11.30am Card Draw, cash prizes on all Par 3's. plus plenty of other prizes Duty, Mark & Joe, House Rainier


Match Committee;  Captain Mike wishes to have a meeting Saturday at 10am


Sunday 10th November;  Sisters Club 3 person Ambrose. We have some cool prizes coming in, if you haven’t done so already, please bring them in and we will sort wrapping of them. If you have any wrapping paper lurking in a cupboard or wardrobe that needs to fine a new home, please let us know and we will happily take them off your hands. Also, Sunday morning, please bring a plate of food for dinner, meat meals, bakes, veges dishes salads, deserts, etc.. would be advantageous for a wonderful night! Get cooking, crock potting, baking etc… Thank you all for your support.


Junior Programme;  Monday 11th November at 4pm. Thank you to the members who have put their hand up to help with this programme. We all started somewhere.


Twilight Golf;  Up and running again for another year. Members and non members alike. If you have friends wanting to try Golf, twilight is the perfect opportunity. Tee off from 3.30pm 


Christmas Cheer Saturday 14th December;   List is up in the foyer for entries please. If you are requiring a cart for Christmas Cheers please book it with Mike. Writing Cart on the entry form doesn't cut it.


Annual General Meeting;  Monday 9th December. Nomination forms are available in the office and upstairs. Please consider how you can contribute to our Club, and get yourself nominated.


Regent Theatre Ambrose;  The day wasn't flash weather wise, but 13 teams entered.  The Hauiti brothers came in first and second, followed by the Tracey team. The tournament raised just over $2000 for the new projector. The volunteers who run the theater are very happy with the result.


Lots of information tonight to consider, and take action with.  Our condolences to the Hauiti family with the loss of their father and grandfather Peka.

What's On 29 January 2026?

Evening all, Saturday, January 31st; Card draw 11.30 am Duty Zane, House Scott. Summer Cup matches as advised last week to be continued . Friday, February 6th (Waitangi Day) 11.30 am tee off; Maori v the rest match. Always a great day with plenty of before and after banter. Golf HB Pennants 2026. Dannevirke has 4 teams playing in this competition, in the Championship 1 & 3 grades, plus Handicap 2 & 3 grades. These are teams of 6 playing match play all over the Golf HB Region, commencing Sunday 22nd February. Any new members interested in being part of a team, please advise Zane on Saturday. NZ Ambrose Golf Cup, round 12 qualifier at Saint Andrews Golf Club, Hamilton. Congratulations to "Young Boys" Te Wai, Graiden, Rani, and Eru Hauiti of their 1st place last weekend. 68 Gross 57.5 nett. Off to the finals Twilight Golf; Don't forget Twilight Golf is played every Thursday, 4.30 to 5.30 pm tee off during daylight savings months. Great opportunity to try out the game, introduce family and friends to golf, or hone a few new skills over 9 holes. The weather gods have been much kinder to us, than in some areas of the country. With approximately 112 mils of rain this month, the course has gone from a dry, plenty of run summer track to a lush green autumn track in a couple of weeks. Saturday 24th January; Summer Cup Round 1 Matchplay. Duty Match Committee House Baz Mott Summer Cup Draw; Byes, Johnny Edwards, Bryan Burt, Amrit Prasad, Tama Petera. G Freeman v D Treacy Jnr, S Hikawai v Marg Treacy, Z Gregory v T Neilson, B Williams v T Peeti, V Hales v R Henricksen, J Bassett v B Mott, C Peck v S Beale, R Martin v T Albert, P Drummond v T Crawford, T Bell v N Evans, D Maken v M Filer, Billy Te Ture v M Matthews. Barrie Illsley Building sponsored 54 Hole Matchplay Tournament; A great weekend was had by all. Starting Friday with the Qualifying round, Pat Harold took out the Gross prize, with Mark Illsley the nett. The five par 3 approaches plus a wild card (me) went 100 metres down the 18th for a chip out for $1000. Congratulation Pat for your win here. Division winners Group 1, Tama Petera beat Micheal Seatter, Group 2 Caleb Jensen (Cape Turnagain) beat Tewai Hauiti, Group 3 Mike Matthews beat Barry Illsley, Group 4 Eru Hauiti beat Ben Neilson, and group 5 Hamish Illsley beat Basil Prestege (visitor). Ladies, Margaret Treacy beat Margaret Stephenson. Our thanks once again for the sponsorship for this event put forward by Barry Illsley Buiilding. Great work by Peter Gregory and his committee, ladies for the catering, local sponsors, and all the members who participated. Bring on 2027. Summer Cup draw is out and matches are ready to go. Friday 16th - Sunday 18th; Barry Illsley Building sponsored 54-hole Matchplay Tournament. This year we have 5 mens groups of 8, and one ladies' group of 4. The event has right of way during the weekend., but there is still ample room for members (limited carts). Friday is qualifying, commencing on the number 1 tee at 9.30 with the final tee time being 10.40 am. Saturday will have one round of Matchplay starting mid-morning, and Sunday there will be two rounds of Matchplay with an earlier start. Coronation Cup, Zone play Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April, Finals 23rd & 24th May. Greenwood Cup, Rounds 1-3 at Dannevirke, October 3 & 4th, Rounds 4-7 Maraenui 31st October & 1st November. Open Championship Qualifying, Sat 21st February and Sat 14th March . Update # 13 Lands End. Red Pegs have been placed along the stump line, indicating a Hazard. Players may find their ball and play out (No Penalty) or if the ball cannot be found, play another ball from point of entry with a one-shot penalty . President Peter advises there is a large quantity of pine cones through the harvested area. Members are welcome to go down and bag them up for their own use. Vehicle entry across the course, and under the bridge by number 14, please. Beware of golfers and golf balls; entry at your own risk.
