Saturday 20th December; Club Day card draw 11.15 am, tee off 11.30 am. Saturday 27th December / Saturday 3rd January. I am sure someone from the match committee will be around to arrange a draw, etc, for 11.30 am tee off. If not, please sort yourselves and have a game. The match committee deserves a break. Christmas Cheer; Great day had by all. An amazing turnout of around 100 players, with just over 20 of them having 40 stableford points or more. Saturday 13th December; Shires Fruit & Vege market sponsored Christmas Cheer. 12 noon Shotgun Start. A draw will be posted on our Facebook page on Friday. As we already have 120 in the field and tees allocated, no further entries will be accepted. Please present early at the office to pay your entry fee of $30 and be at your starting tee ready to go at 12 noon. House Committee; Duty Tony Neilson Bar roster 4 pm Tony, Baz and Scott, 4.45 pm Gillian, Angela and Norm, 5.30 pm Tony and Drum, 6.15 pm Stephen and Depak We’re expecting a full field on Saturday, and committee members will be playing and would like to enjoy the evening with their fellow members so we would like your assistance, please. Ask if you can help, for example, if you are heading downstairs,s take a box of empties and put in the recycling, ask if the chiller needs restocking, pick up empty bottles. These little things would be really appreciated, and we can all enjoy the occasion. With large numbers, we quickly run out of $2 coins, so if you have a pocket full of coins, go to the bar and exchange them for notes. Ma pango ma whero ka oti ai te mahi – many hands make light work! Thanks, Stephen. Annual General Meeting; Last Monday saw a muster of around 40 members attend our AGM. A sign of the times, perhaps, but members don't appear to see the significance of this once-a-year meeting. Decisions are made that carry the Club forward and report on the previous year. The committee nominations all went through, and Bernie Williams has been nominated as a Vice President, following Vaughan Hales' resignation earlier in the year. An increase in Subscriptions was approved, and I will report next week for those paying monthly, fortnightly, and weekly, what changes need to be made to keep you up to date. Carts: The last two of our replacement carts arrived on course today. That gives us a fleet now of 8 new and one older cart. These carts are part of our business growth strategy, as a great deal of visiting green fee players request carts at the same time as they book to play, especially group bookings. This forms part of the package we can offer travelling players. Secondly, for various reasons, younger members who have joined clubs since Covid prefer to play in carts. Greenfees & carts this year brought 87k into our club, compared to 62k the previous year. Having Patrick (Harold Golf) on course potentially captures more green fees and cart hire. Cart for Sale; We have one of our original carts for Sale at $500. Batteries may need replacing. Call Captain Zane or ask Patrick for an inspection when he is on course.
