White golf balls with black lines.

Saturday 20th December;  Club Day card draw 11.15 am, tee off 11.30 am.

Saturday 27th December / Saturday 3rd January.  I am sure someone from the match committee will be around to arrange a draw, etc, for 11.30 am tee off. If not, please sort yourselves and have a game. The match committee deserves a break.

Christmas Cheer;  Great day had by all. An amazing turnout of around 100 players, with just over 20 of them having 40 stableford points or more. Seniors Syd Hikiwai 39; Zane Gregory, 39; John Garnett, 34; Michael Seatter, 34. Intermediate Ben Neilson 43, Jacob Stephenson 43, Rhea Hazners 43, Peter Greatbatch 42, Raymond Martin 42, Brendon White 41, Angela Farrell 41. Junior Denzil Treacy (Snr) 46, Grayson Feieraband 44, Hamish Greatbatch 43, Paris Deeley 42, Rani Hauiti 42, Gillian Dailey 42.

Again, we must thank our major sponsor, Suresh and the crew at Shires Fruit & Vege Market,  Dannevirke 4 Square, plus the haggle hole sponsors, Dannevirke Vet Services, Dannevirke Suzuki, and myself. Thanks especially to Marcus and Glenn, who have run the haggle hole now for 8 years, bringing you ham buns, Baileys, Whiskey Gin and beers.  They managed to withdraw $880 from your pockets to purchase a new BBQ for the Golf Club. Loved the triangle guys, who says it has to be a circle on the green?

That wraps up What's On for another year. Thanks to Captains Zane & Peter for all they have done for their first year in their role, and to members who have contributed articles for inclusion in this weekly newsletter. I'm taking a break now until mid-January. On behalf of President Peter, the Management Committee and all committee members, may I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Hopefully Santa will bring you all a new handicap, subject to which way you want it to go!

Good Golfing, 👍

All four teams travel for this round. Handicap 2 & 3 still have a chance of making the finals! Summer Cup; Amrit and I did battle last Saturday. Finally, I have my name on a club trophy. Great match, thanks, Amrit. Sisters Club, Queen's Birthday in Patea; S orry for missing a number of people at the proposed meeting a couple of weeks ago, I assumed it would be a normal Saturday and turned up at 5 pm to discover only a small number of people played that day, and most of those that did had gone home. I’m at golf this Saturday, so we’ll have a meeting following the prize giving. From my informal enquiries, it looks like we’ll have a group of about 24 going to Patea. I’ve booked accommodation at the Kerry Lane motel in Hawera. I’m currently looking at transport options. The most likely is a couple of vans. We will then require a couple of drivers for Saturday and Sunday. Regards Stephen Best wishes to our Coronation Cup team at Takapau, let's hope the cyclone heads out east and gives us a miss. For those turned off by the weather, there is always the Masters at Augusta to watch from the dry comfort of your lounge chair. Good Golfing👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe

Thanks, Mark and Ranier, for stepping in to play for Dannevirke when we were short on numbers. RESULTS: 1st Norsewood 2nd Cape Turnagain 3rd Pongaroa 4th Dannevirke 5th Takapau A Brief history: the Rosebowl has been taking place for 30+ years and is a meaningful tournament for local interculb golf. We appreciate there is a lot of golf at this time of the season, however, it is a shame when such days are not well supported by our members. Any thoughts or suggestions on how this event can be better attended, please reach out to Zane, Peter, or any match committee member. We do not want to see these tournaments fall off the annual calendar. Coronation Cup A team will be selected by Thursday, 2nd April. First round is in Takapau on Saturday, 11th April Twilight The end of Twilight season was postponed this week due to the weather and will be held next Thursday (weather permitting). Weather looking good for another great weekend of golf! Good luck to our Pennants teams. Cheers, Zane CC.
