What's On

Obituary; Sadly this week we say farewell to Past President Hepa Tatere, who passed away last Friday. Some members will have been taught by Hepa at South School, or Woodville School in his earlier days. Hepa had a great knack of knowing who to go too if he wanted something done. Refusing him was difficult. RIP

Saturday 10th June; Card draw 11am, Round 1 Sattrup & Brannigan 4bbb (four ball, best ball).  An entry sheet for this has been up for a while. if you aren't in the field yet, talk to the starter on Saturday. Wiffin Cup matches require playing please. With many members away last weekend, we have a bit of catch up required

Sister’s Club I’d like to acknowledge the passing of Hepa Tatere, a former President of the Dannevirke Golf Club. As a result one of the stalwarts of the Sister’s Club Brenda Tatere had to pull out of the tournament at the last minute. Also Chalky Ward had to return to Gisborne for a family emergency, and he was our leading golfer on Saturday, and then Sid Hikawai got food poisoning and so following a promising start on Saturday we came up short on the Sunday.

On the positive side Mike Matthews was the top individual and we had a great time, the weather was good, the organisation very good, it was just some of us failed to fire when it mattered.

Still there is next year and Dannevirke will be hosting the 52nd playing of the Sister’s Club tournament. I’ll call a meeting early in July to set up a tournament committee in preparation for the 2024 event. So if you are interested in assisting, playing or both please give me your contact details.

Regards Stephen.

With winter well and truly on us now, please respect our course. Any damage done now, won't repair as quickly. Please repair all your divots and pitch marks. If you are waiting to putt, have a look around you and if there are any pitch marks, please repair them.

Good Golfing

Great opportunity to try out the game, introduce family and friends to golf, or hone a few new skills over 9 holes. The weather gods have been much kinder to us, than in some areas of the country. With approximately 112 mils of rain this month, the course has gone from a dry, plenty of run summer track to a lush green autumn track in a couple of weeks. Plenty of visitors keeping Pat busy, so come on out and enjoy our great course. See you soon. Good Golfing👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe
