What's On 1st June 2023

Evening all,
Saturday 3rd June; Card draw 11am .
Wiffin Cup; the draw for the Wiffin Cup matchplay is on a clipboard hanging from the trophy shelf in the shop. We appreciate there are many members away this weekend, but please have a look who you have to play and arrange your matches. There is a full list of members in the glass cabinet on the right hand side of the entrance foyer. Please either phone or email your opponent if need be.
Championship Final Results; Congratulations to this years champions. Senior Brad Truesdale, Intermediate men Doug Lochead, Intermediate B men Richard Dollen, Junior A Men Jim Morton, Junior B Men Bernie Williams, Senior ladies Margaret Stephenson, Intermediate ladies Margaret Treacy (on the 36th hole) Junior ladies Rhea Hazners
Sisters Club; This year the tournament is being hosted by the Weedons Golf Club in Christchurch. We have a team of around 20 heading south this weekend. Good luck
Fielding Matchplay Tournament; Another group of members is attending this annual tournament. Best of luck guys
Greens Staff; One more message from the staff. Please fix your pitch marks . For our newer members, a pitch mark is the indentation made on the green when your ball lands for the first time. These require lifting with a pitch repairer, or tee, then patting down with your putter to leave the repair flat like the rest of the green. You don't only have to fix your own. If you see a pitch mark or pitch marks on the green, please repair them.
Glass recycling; Yes its happened. In order for us to take the glass straight into the recycling centre, we need to have separate colours. Vice President Peter Greatbatch took a load in this week, and some bright spark had put clear glass into the bin which already contained brown bottles. We appreciate what is happening upstairs with the small bins being filled then taken down to the large wheelie bins, but please check whats in there before adding more bottles. If in doubt, leave them out. A second comment from Peter, regarding the cardboard boxes. Please pull them apart for recycling, stamping on them does not flatted them enough to go through the cardboard slot at the recycling centre.
If you are traveling this week end, drive safely. If you are golfing, good golfing.
