Saturday 31st; St Joseph's School Fundraiser 3 Ball Ambrose Golf Tournament. 10.30am Tee off: (See Flyer and Entry From below)

One of two days per year when our Club donates the use of our course to a local school for fundraising  purposes. Entry fee $20 per head 

 

Saturday 7th November; Inter Club with Fielding at home. 11.30am tee off. Remember two years ago we turned on scones jam & whipped cream for them and they thought we were marvelous. Lets do it again.  'll bring the jam and cream if we can have some scones please

 

Management Committee meeting Wednesday 21 / 10 /20

 

Security, President Tony reported there are still too many security lapses. Please if you are a key holder and locking up, check every door. Tony receives an email and photo of each transgression and he's over it

Green fee players; we have several groups booked for November so please make them welcome

Annual General Meeting; Monday 7th December 2020 at 7.30pm 

Greens Staff; Our staff are doing a marvelous job, and we keep receiving positive comments from visitors. Well done guys, we really appreciate your efforts

Twilight Golf. Players are ready to play but we lack an organising committee. Please give some consideration as to how you can help the Club with this issue. Tony or Mike would love to hear from you?

Duties to be shared around include starting, operating the bar, finalising results and doing prize giving. Player numbers are usually around 18 to 24   

 

Eagles Golfing Society; Today the HB Eagles Golfing Society, held their annual Halberg Fundraising Tournament at the Napier Golf Course. Conditions and course were excellent, but scoring was not that flash, with both men's groups top scores at 38 Sablefords. A full field of 144 players with the odd scratching, A cheque for $20,000.00 was presented to the Halberg Foundation. taking the total for Hawkes Bay to over $400,000 in the past 41 years. We had three winners in the Cape kidnappers raffle, who will be presented with their prizes next week. A great day, (beats working) but a late start to What's On

 

For the members on the roads this weekend, take care, for those playing in Golf events out of town, best of luck. For the members staying around town for the weekend, head on out to our beautiful course, and make the most of it.

What's on 18 Febuary 2026?

Saturday 14th February; Club day at 11.30 am, Cards in please by 11.15. House Committee Gillian. Please keep going withthe Summer Cup Matches. Monday 16th February; Match Committee Meeting Mangatera Hotel 5 pm Result; On Friday, 6th, we played the annual Maori v Pakeha competition. 55 in the field, with a win this year to our Maori members with a Stableford average of 32.7 versus the Pakeha,& friends team with 29.1. Great win, folks. After 4 years of this competition, you have finally cracked it. Golf HB Pennants; Competition starts Sunday 22nd. Teams and Managers this year are Championship 1, Willie Harold, Championship 3, and Handicap 2, Tama Petera, Handicap 3, Tony Peeti. Any members wishing to play Pennants who have not already done so, please contact Captain Zane or any of the Managers. Veterans; We are now receiving entries for the Classic Days. (Dannevirke and Waipukurau). If you want to get an entry in, now is a good time. Monday/Tuesday 2nd/3rd March at Waipukurau, Thursday/Friday 5th/6th March at Dannevirke. Please note: this is for the very first time, a 9-hole competition, which is only available at Dannevirke. To enter, follow the formula as follows: Go to NZ vet’s website, Go to Homepage, Click on Entry Forms, Answer the questions that have an asterisk. e.g., Email, Name, Golf ID, Phone No, Gender, 18 or 9 hole option, Amount of payment, which is $60 at Waipukurau, $50 at Dannevirke, $30 at Dannevirke 9 Holes. SUBMIT. If all else fails, contact Warren Ridge or Gus Terry. Marae Tournament: This year’s tournament is on Saturday, 28 February. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will go to the Makirikiri Marae. You can enter by putting your name on the list is in the foyer. I’ve been given a certificate for a round of golf for 4 people at Cape Kidnappers. It has been decided to raffle this prize; tickets are available from Stephen Paewai, Tim Bell or Patrick Harold. (Notebook on the bar on competition days) The raffle will be drawn during the prize giving for the Marae Tournament. Regards Stephen. Carts: We have already had two disappointing incidents this year. Our new carts are there to use and be respected. Last Sunday (unknown driver) obviously drove up to another cart on number 14 tee and tried to push it, leaving black tyre marks and holes in the lime track. Just dumb! Appreciate we have visitors and members using our carts, but any such behaviour will be dealt to by the Management Committee. "Use them, don't abuse them" Greenstaff; With Kierane being a fully qualified Green Keeper, the committee and he decided it was a good time to start another Apprentice. The role was advertised before Christmas, and so it is good to welcome Liam Making to our Club. Great to have you on board, and all the best for the next few years, gaining a qualification. Kierane Given the amount of water we now have available, our greens are being well watered. Being softer than normal, please be aware of pitch marks on the Greens. Friday 6th February; Card draw 11.30 am, Maori versus the rest shield. Bring your " A" game, combined stableford for each team Saturday 7th February; Club day. Card draw at 11.30 am. House duty, Stephen. Summer Cup matches to be played if possible, please. Marae Tournament: This year’s tournament is on Saturday, 28 February. What's On 29 January 2026?

Evening all, Saturday, January 31st; Card draw 11.30 am Duty Zane, House Scott. Summer Cup matches as advised last week to be continued . Friday, February 6th (Waitangi Day) 11.30 am tee off; Maori v the rest match. Always a great day with plenty of before and after banter. Golf HB Pennants 2026. Dannevirke has 4 teams playing in this competition, in the Championship 1 & 3 grades, plus Handicap 2 & 3 grades. These are teams of 6 playing match play all over the Golf HB Region, commencing Sunday 22nd February. Any new members interested in being part of a team, please advise Zane on Saturday. NZ Ambrose Golf Cup, round 12 qualifier at Saint Andrews Golf Club, Hamilton. Congratulations to "Young Boys" Te Wai, Graiden, Rani, and Eru Hauiti of their 1st place last weekend. 68 Gross 57.5 nett. Off to the finals Twilight Golf; Don't forget Twilight Golf is played every Thursday, 4.30 to 5.30 pm tee off during daylight savings months. Great opportunity to try out the game, introduce family and friends to golf, or hone a few new skills over 9 holes. The weather gods have been much kinder to us, than in some areas of the country. With approximately 112 mils of rain this month, the course has gone from a dry, plenty of run summer track to a lush green autumn track in a couple of weeks.
