Entrance off Tamaki River Road; Work has commenced on repairing the entrance off Tamaki River Road. Contractors have dug out the entrance, which will be concreted, to stop the area being ripped up by trucks turning around there after unloading metal in the pitt across the road. Temporary Entrance.  Members can cross the grassed area, on the main road side of our normal entrance, and enter through the gates as normal. Please approach the area slowly, and beware of traffic coming toward you. It has been made as idiot proof as possible. We will be off it for at least a week after the concrete is poured .Please observe and follow signage etc.

Member request; One of our lady members is a very keen sauce maker. . If you have any large clean empty clear bottles with lids, please leave them on the table in the office for collection. We are talking spirit bottles Gin or Vodka, and clear wine bottles etc with lids. I know they are collectors item now, but if you have any flagons, she would love a couple of them too please. We will advise when the collection has been over supplied, so there is no rush to empty that new bottle of Gin.

We've had a great week out at our Club, with the three day Tararua District Council sponsored 3 day Motor Homes Association tournament concluding at Dannevirke on Monday.. The event brought 40 something players and spouses to our District for 3 days of golf at Eketahuna, Pahiatua, and Dannevirke. Thanks to Michael and his team who arranged the golf and prize giving on Monday evening, and to the members, who prepared, presented and washed up following a roast dinner for our guests. Thanks also to our bar staff.  Tuesday being Waitangi day, we had a field of 78 for the annual Maori v Pakeha match. Thank you so much to our members for your support, in what has become a very popular event each year. Some very good scoring saw the Pakeha team come out on top with a Stableford aggregate of 38 point something, with the Maori team about 3 stableford points behind. Sport at its best, coming together for a game of golf, a bit of banter, a bit of sledging, and a beer or two..  Great day.

Conditions are starting to prevail for those sneaky long players who enjoy a bit of Summer run. Summer at its best, is playing 9 holes around 7pm on the tranquil fairways of the Dannevirke Golf Club.

Great to see our members new and old, and our many guests playing our course. Its there to be played and enjoyed.

Good Golfing

On Course Tee Signs: A big shout-out to our tee sponsors for their continued support of our Club. With business changes, we have 5 tee signs available for advertising your business. If any member wishes to take up one of these signs, please contact our Secretary Bailey Harold at dannevirkegolf@xtra.co.nz. Annual General Meeting; Monday 8th December. Another call please, for members to consider putting themselves forward for nomination to the various committees. Our thanks to Bailey for her work to date on the new constitution. Every Club in NZ has to update their Constitution before the end of April 2026, so we can continue to apply for Charity funding etc. Golf NZ produced a template, and we are just adding the final touches for our Club. This will need to be adopted at the AGM. At this point, we have not had any major damage on our course with the wind, but today is going to be another windy one. Fingers crossed, we get through unscathed, and the wind settles for a fine weekend with ample opportunity to play some golf. Best wishes to all who are traveling this weekend for tournaments or other golfing adventures. Travel safely and play well. Good Golfing👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe

Congratulations , too Margaret Stephenson, (Senior) Sue Burlace (Intermediate) and Kerrie Gundersen (Junior). Runners up being , Angela Farrell, Margaret Treacy and Rainier Arnold. Greenwood Cup Rounds 1-3; Conditions at Waipukurau Golf Club were very pleasant for two rounds of golf Saturday and one Sunday. The rough at Waipukurau has for years has been dense clover and still is, which can be deceiving, as the ball looks ok, but the clover can be difficult to hit from. Saturday morning the team played Karamu having a 7 to 3 win, followed in the afternoon with an 8.5 to 1.5 win against Central Hawkes Bay. Sunday morning we came up against the first of the city Clubs Napier, and were defeated 7 to 3. Two matches concluded with draws on the 18th, and 3 finished on the 17th, so it wasn't all bad. The current standings are Hastings first on 6 points with 27.5 games, Onga Onga second also on 6 points and 23 games, Napier third with 4 points and 20 games, with Dannevirke fourth on 4 points and 18.5 games. Looking forward to the final four rounds at Hastings Golf Club on November 15th & 16th . Annual General Meeting; Monday 8th December at 7.30pm. A reminder to Committee chairman and others to have your reports to Gail by next weekend (Labour Weekend) for the Annual Report.
