Saturday 13th December;  Shires Fruit & Vege market sponsored Christmas Cheer. 12 noon Shotgun Start. A draw will be posted on our Facebook page on Friday. As we already have 120 in the field and tees allocated, no further entries will be accepted. Please present early at the office to pay your entry fee of $30 and be at your starting tee ready to go at 12 noon.

House Committee;  Duty Tony Neilson Bar roster 4 pm Tony, Baz and Scott, 4.45 pm Gillian, Angela and Norm, 5.30 pm Tony and Drum,  6.15 pm Stephen and Depak

We’re expecting a full field on Saturday, and committee members will be playing and would like to enjoy the evening with their fellow members so we would like your assistance, please. Ask if you can help, for example, if you are heading downstairs,s take a box of empties and put in the recycling, ask if the chiller needs restocking, pick up empty bottles.

These little things would be really appreciated, and we can all enjoy the occasion.  With large numbers, we quickly run out of $2 coins, so if you have a pocket full of coins, go to the bar and exchange them for notes.

Ma pango ma whero ka oti ai te mahi – many hands make light work!  Thanks, Stephen.

Annual General Meeting; Last Monday saw a muster of around 40 members attend our AGM.  A sign of the times, perhaps, but members don't appear to see the significance of this once-a-year meeting. Decisions are made that carry the Club forward and report on the previous year. The committee nominations all went through, and Bernie Williams has been nominated as a Vice President, following Vaughan Hales' resignation earlier in the year. An increase in Subscriptions was approved, and I will report next week for those paying monthly, fortnightly, and weekly, what changes need to be made to keep you up to date.

Carts: The last two of our replacement carts arrived on course today. That gives us a fleet now of 8 new and one older cart. These carts are part of our business growth strategy, as a great deal of visiting green fee players request carts at the same time as they book to play, especially group bookings. This forms part of the package we can offer travelling players. Secondly, for various reasons, younger members who have joined clubs since Covid prefer to play in carts. Greenfees & carts this year brought 87k into our club, compared to 62k the previous year. Having Patrick (Harold Golf) on course potentially captures more green fees and cart hire.

Cart for Sale;  We have one of our original carts for Sale at $500. Batteries may need replacing. Call Captain Zane or ask Patrick for an inspection when he is on course.

Next week's What's On will be the last for the year.

Looking forward to Christmas Cheer!

Good Golfing'👍

Saturday 6th December; Club day 11.30 am. Card draw at 11.15 am, Match committee on duty, House committee, anyone available?, as your roster expired on 29th November. Monday 8th December; Annual General Meeting; 7.30 pm at the Clubhouse. The booklet was emailed to you all by Bailey last Monday evening. Saturday 13th December; Shires Fruit & Vege Market sponsored Christmas Cheer Tournament. Our biggest event of the year. If you haven't done so already, please enter your fours on the Entry sheet in the foyer, so a draw can be produced and sent out next Thursday night. Sorry folks, all of our carts have been booked, so no more carts are available. Result : Interclub with Feilding Golf Club last Saturday. For the 7th year in a row, Feilding were the winners on the day. Thank you to the 19 players from Dannevirke who participated. Congratulations to Jacob Stephenson, 75 off the stick and 45 stablefords. Even Jacobs score couldn't lift our average! The rain over the past two days has possibly taken the sting out of the ground, so we may miss the run for a couple of days. Never mind it will be back. Have a great weekend, and see you all on Monday at the AGM. Bryan Burt Club Scribe

Saturday 29th November; Feilding interclub at Feilding. 11.30 am tee off. Tony Peeti & Eru Hauiti are both taking vans, so there may be rides available. Contact these gentlemen directly, please. Tony's van leaves the golf club at 9.50 am. Saturday 29th November; Club day, 11.30 am card draw. Duty Richie House Basil Sunday 30th November; Pongaroa are hosting their Prize Giving and Christmas Cheer Tournament. I believe it is a 12 noon start for anyone interested in attending Saturday 13th December : Shires Fruit & Vege Market sponsored Christmas Cheer. 12 noon shotgun start, entry sheet in the foyer at the Clubhouse. All carts are booked. Once again, our haggle hole (no. 14) will be manned by the formidable team of Glen McClelland & Marcus Ransom. This team of two has given up their time for the past 7 or 8 years to man the haggle hole and donate their proceeds to worthy causes around our community or club. Thanks also to the ham sponsors for the haggle hole. Originally, Vet Services and PGG Wrightson. Vet Services have continued, and I took over the PGG Wrightson sponsorship some years ago. Maybe a bit damp tomorrow, but the forecast for the weekend is good. We are bearing down on 100 years of inter-club fixtures with Feilding (next couple of years I believe). Maybe we can turn the clock back 100 years and go to Feilding by train or horseback and stay for a week!, Watch this space. Happy 40th for yesterday Captain Zane. Good Golfing👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe

Saturday 22nd November; Drummond Cup, 3 Clubs plus a putter. Competition is Nett. 11.30 am Card Draw. Duty Zane & Co. House Stephen Paewai Saturday 29th November; Inter Club with Feilding at Feilding. More information next week regards transport and start times. Monday 8th December; Annual General Meeting. Clubhouse at 7.30 pm Saturday 13th December; Shires Fruit & Vege Market, sponsored Christmas Cheer. 12 noon Shotgun start. Entry sheet in the foyer at the clubhouse. Please put all names in, not just someone's four, so a partial draw can be done before the day. Tree Felling: Work has begun on felling the Pines on the right-hand side of number 13 (Lands End). Two messages we have for members playing the course. One, if the red tape is across by the ladies' number 13 tee, please putt out on number 12, then cross the Railway line, and walk down to the 14th tee (yes, past the 17th tee and behind the 16th green) and proceed from there. If you are in a competition record a score that equates to 2 stableford points on the par 5. Two, when felling is not in progress, but trimming and removing logs is, the fairway will be open, but there will be an electric type fence running the length of the hole. We request members do not cross this line if chainsaws or diggers are in use. It will be deemed GUR so play another ball from the point of entry, but please do not go and retrieve your ball and put yourself in danger of injury by chainsaw or machinery. Greenwood 2025; Report from Captain Craig Nash, Our Greenwood cup team fell agonisingly close to history late on Sunday afternoon. Playing Hastings on their home course in the final round to decide the Cup winner, we went down 8/2. Dannevirke’s last title was in 1964 and since then, this was as close as we have got to taking it out. We started the weekend in fourth place and performed outstandingly well to defeat Maraenui, Hawkes Bay and reigning two year champions Onga Onga leaving us an opportunity in the deciding match. Credit goes to Hastings who were solid at home and took out many close matches down the stretch. I’m very proud of the effort put in by our team of Pat Harold, Brad Truesdale, Rhys Harold, Angus Findlay, Willie Harold, Chris Mason, Clay Lochead, Syd Hikawai, Brad Dippie, Thomas Kuggeleijn, Lance Hambrook and myself. Our men proudly wearing the Dannevirke Golf Club crest prepared themselves to be in the best physical and mental condition they could giving 120% on the course which is all and more than we asked for. We take this result, we grow stronger and will be back next year. We love the game we play and the opportunity to represent Dannevirke. On behalf of our team, we want to show our appreciation to our management team of Pete Gregory and Bryan Burt, the club members who followed and caddied over the two weekends and our overall gratitude to the committee and members of the Dannevirke Golf Club who support us to compete in this historic competition - thank you all. Craig Nash Constitution; ( Draft) Legislation changes in 2022, meant all sports and social Clubs had to update their Constitutions by April 2026. Golf NZ provided a template and Secretary Bailey and President Peter have gone through it page by page adding and deleting. A copy (22 pages) is attached to tonight's What's On. If you have an interest in this please go through it and if you have any matters of concern, please contact Bailey via email at dannevirkegolf@xtra.co.nz. The Constitution will be an Agenda item at the AGM. We can possibly adopt it as is at the AGM, or make changes as minuted at the meeting and hold a Special General Meeting before 30th April 2026 to adopt it. Adoption at the AGM would be the simple option, but not the only one. Plenty of reading tonight if you want to peruse the Draft Constitution. Saturdays Drummond Cup competition is always popular, as it proves most of us carry far too many Clubs. Three clubs and a putter and the netts will be amazing. Thanks Gemma & Zane for producing What's On for the past two weeks in my absence. Have a great weekend👍 Bryan Burt Club Scribe
