Evening all, 


Saturday 30th September;  Inter club with Pahiatua at Pahiatua.  11.30am Tee off. NB; Pahiatua had rain today and with more forecast, their Captain and Captain Mike will make a final decision tomorrow weather to continue or not. A cancellation email will come from Captain Mike if that is the decision.


Saturday 30th September (Home players) 11.30am Tee off (note new start time) Starters Richie & Syd, Results Bernie. Club house draw 4pm being $140 this week

November dates; For members considering playing in this years SHB 36 Hole Mixed Foursomes, the date is Sunday 5th November, details to follow (date error in the ladies programme) 


Greenwood Cup 2023; The team has been out practicing as much as the weather will permit. On Saturday 7th October, the team will be presented to our members in the clubhouse at 4.45pm following golf.


Rounds 1-3 will be hosted at Dannevirke on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15th. Note to members the course will be closed Saturday 14th, and reopening Sunday mid day. As this is a Golf Hawkes Bay event, we have reciprocal rights to play on the courses of teams competing. If you choose to go to a city course, bookings will be required, we can't just rock up and expect to get a tee time.


Dress Ring; An update from the finder states the ring mentioned last week was in fact found on the ladies 10th tee on Wednesday 6th September. It is a small gold ring with an inner pattern. No engraving. It appears to have no mower damage, so may not have been there long. If anyone knows who the owner is please contact myself, as I have said ring


Getting wet playing golf has become the normal this year, but hopefully we can get a couple of dry days in this weekend.

Friday 6th February; Card draw 11.30 am, Maori versus the rest shield. Bring your " A" game, combined stableford for each team Saturday 7th February; Club day. Card draw at 11.30 am. House duty, Stephen. Summer Cup matches to be played if possible, please. Marae Tournament: This year’s tournament is on Saturday, 28 February. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will go to the Makirikiri Marae. You can enter by putting your name on the list in the foyer. I’ve been given a certificate for a round of golf for 4 people at Cape Kidnappers. It has been decided to raffle this prize; tickets are available from Stephen Paewai, Tim Bell or Patrick Harold. The raffle will be drawn during the prize giving for the Marae Tournament. Regards Stephen. The course is in great condition at present, so get out and have a game if you can. What's On 29 January 2026?

Evening all, Saturday, January 31st; Card draw 11.30 am Duty Zane, House Scott. Summer Cup matches as advised last week to be continued . Friday, February 6th (Waitangi Day) 11.30 am tee off; Maori v the rest match. Always a great day with plenty of before and after banter. Golf HB Pennants 2026. Dannevirke has 4 teams playing in this competition, in the Championship 1 & 3 grades, plus Handicap 2 & 3 grades. These are teams of 6 playing match play all over the Golf HB Region, commencing Sunday 22nd February. Any new members interested in being part of a team, please advise Zane on Saturday. NZ Ambrose Golf Cup, round 12 qualifier at Saint Andrews Golf Club, Hamilton. Congratulations to "Young Boys" Te Wai, Graiden, Rani, and Eru Hauiti of their 1st place last weekend. 68 Gross 57.5 nett. Off to the finals Twilight Golf; Don't forget Twilight Golf is played every Thursday, 4.30 to 5.30 pm tee off during daylight savings months. Great opportunity to try out the game, introduce family and friends to golf, or hone a few new skills over 9 holes. The weather gods have been much kinder to us, than in some areas of the country. With approximately 112 mils of rain this month, the course has gone from a dry, plenty of run summer track to a lush green autumn track in a couple of weeks. Saturday 24th January; Summer Cup Round 1 Matchplay. Duty Match Committee House Baz Mott Summer Cup Draw; Byes, Johnny Edwards, Bryan Burt, Amrit Prasad, Tama Petera. G Freeman v D Treacy Jnr, S Hikawai v Marg Treacy, Z Gregory v T Neilson, B Williams v T Peeti, V Hales v R Henricksen, J Bassett v B Mott, C Peck v S Beale, R Martin v T Albert, P Drummond v T Crawford, T Bell v N Evans, D Maken v M Filer, Billy Te Ture v M Matthews. Barrie Illsley Building sponsored 54 Hole Matchplay Tournament; A great weekend was had by all. Starting Friday with the Qualifying round, Pat Harold took out the Gross prize, with Mark Illsley the nett. The five par 3 approaches plus a wild card (me) went 100 metres down the 18th for a chip out for $1000. Congratulation Pat for your win here. Division winners Group 1, Tama Petera beat Micheal Seatter, Group 2 Caleb Jensen (Cape Turnagain) beat Tewai Hauiti, Group 3 Mike Matthews beat Barry Illsley, Group 4 Eru Hauiti beat Ben Neilson, and group 5 Hamish Illsley beat Basil Prestege (visitor). Ladies, Margaret Treacy beat Margaret Stephenson. Our thanks once again for the sponsorship for this event put forward by Barry Illsley Buiilding. Great work by Peter Gregory and his committee, ladies for the catering, local sponsors, and all the members who participated. Bring on 2027. Summer Cup draw is out and matches are ready to go.
