Saturday December 11th; Shires Fruit & Vege Market Sponsored Christmas Cheer; 12 noon Shot Gun Start. (Vaccine Pass Required), please bring some extra cash as Marcus Ransom & Glenn McClelland are again running their haggle hole on number 14. Hams on the haggle hole sponsored by PGG Wrightson & Dannevirke Vet Services. All moneys received will go towards the TV to show the days competition upstairs, when the card system is installed.


Match Committee; Mike has asked that the Match Committee arrive at 10am on Saturday to assist with pre tournament duties please 


Seniors Golf;   Next Tuesday December 14th is the Dannevirke Senior’s Xmas Cheer. We will tee off at the usual time of 10.00am. After the golf the AGM will take place followed by the Trophy Presentations.


Club House Booking; Saturday 18 December, Metalform are holding their Christmas function at the Golf Club so the upstairs lounge is closed and members are to use the new bar downstairs. Thanks for your co operation. Stephen     

       

Annual General Meeting; A good muster of members attended the AGM on Monday night. A summary of events, include President Tony Peeti being reelected for the 4th (and his final year) Vice Presidents Vaughan Hales & Peter Greatbatch, Club Captains, Michael Matthews and Glenys Nicol, Secretary / Treasurer. Miranda Hobbs, Match Committee, Norm Evans, Ray Ward, Zane Gregory, Craig Evans, Stephen Paewai, Doug Lochead, Tim Bell, Syd Hikiwai, Nigel brown and Shane Evans, House Committee, Norm Evans, Craig Evans, Peter Drummond, Stephen Paewai, Adam Webster, James Walker, Syd Hikiwai, Dipak Makan, Trevor delaHape, Roger Ransom and Bazil Mott,  Green Committee, James Walker, Roger Ransom, Vaughan Hales, Richard TeTure,  Farm Committee, James Walker and Roger Ransom.



Vaccination was discussed, and a motion which basically requested "No Vaccine no play" was lost on the vote. A second motion which was passed allows unvaccinated members to play the course, but are excluded from Club competitions and tournaments (to avoid being drawn with vaccinated players). A Government mandate, states without a Vaccine Passport you cannot enter licensed premises being our clubhouse, or any buildings associated with the Club. Green fee players, visitors and campers all require a vaccine pass. Covid and passports etc, allows for differing opinions, and our Annual General Meeting was the best opportunity for members to discuss options and I believe this has happened.  Please respect these decisions, and until we have mandated changes from authority higher than your Management Committee,  "Subject closed".


The year is fast drawing to an end. Our course will be open for play right through the holiday period. On behalf of our members I wish to again thank Kierane and AG and their helpers for the tremendous job they do in presenting our course in the manner it is. Staff and committee members deserve a well earned break, so please go with the flow and if there is nothing organised make up a group and enjoy a game.


What's On is signing off for another year (First edition went out in 2012) The next edition will be when Mike rings me, or if something happens that we need to inform all 172 members who receive this email.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your families. May you all get a new handicap (lower naturally) for Christmas.

What's on 18 Febuary 2026?

Saturday 14th February; Club day at 11.30 am, Cards in please by 11.15. House Committee Gillian. Please keep going withthe Summer Cup Matches. Monday 16th February; Match Committee Meeting Mangatera Hotel 5 pm Result; On Friday, 6th, we played the annual Maori v Pakeha competition. 55 in the field, with a win this year to our Maori members with a Stableford average of 32.7 versus the Pakeha,& friends team with 29.1. Great win, folks. After 4 years of this competition, you have finally cracked it. Golf HB Pennants; Competition starts Sunday 22nd. Teams and Managers this year are Championship 1, Willie Harold, Championship 3, and Handicap 2, Tama Petera, Handicap 3, Tony Peeti. Any members wishing to play Pennants who have not already done so, please contact Captain Zane or any of the Managers. Veterans; We are now receiving entries for the Classic Days. (Dannevirke and Waipukurau). If you want to get an entry in, now is a good time. Monday/Tuesday 2nd/3rd March at Waipukurau, Thursday/Friday 5th/6th March at Dannevirke. Please note: this is for the very first time, a 9-hole competition, which is only available at Dannevirke. To enter, follow the formula as follows: Go to NZ vet’s website, Go to Homepage, Click on Entry Forms, Answer the questions that have an asterisk. e.g., Email, Name, Golf ID, Phone No, Gender, 18 or 9 hole option, Amount of payment, which is $60 at Waipukurau, $50 at Dannevirke, $30 at Dannevirke 9 Holes. SUBMIT. If all else fails, contact Warren Ridge or Gus Terry. Marae Tournament: This year’s tournament is on Saturday, 28 February. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will go to the Makirikiri Marae. You can enter by putting your name on the list is in the foyer. I’ve been given a certificate for a round of golf for 4 people at Cape Kidnappers. It has been decided to raffle this prize; tickets are available from Stephen Paewai, Tim Bell or Patrick Harold. (Notebook on the bar on competition days) The raffle will be drawn during the prize giving for the Marae Tournament. Regards Stephen. Carts: We have already had two disappointing incidents this year. Our new carts are there to use and be respected. Last Sunday (unknown driver) obviously drove up to another cart on number 14 tee and tried to push it, leaving black tyre marks and holes in the lime track. Just dumb! Appreciate we have visitors and members using our carts, but any such behaviour will be dealt to by the Management Committee. "Use them, don't abuse them" Greenstaff; With Kierane being a fully qualified Green Keeper, the committee and he decided it was a good time to start another Apprentice. The role was advertised before Christmas, and so it is good to welcome Liam Making to our Club. Great to have you on board, and all the best for the next few years, gaining a qualification. Kierane Given the amount of water we now have available, our greens are being well watered. Being softer than normal, please be aware of pitch marks on the Greens. Friday 6th February; Card draw 11.30 am, Maori versus the rest shield. Bring your " A" game, combined stableford for each team Saturday 7th February; Club day. Card draw at 11.30 am. House duty, Stephen. Summer Cup matches to be played if possible, please. Marae Tournament: This year’s tournament is on Saturday, 28 February. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will go to the Makirikiri Marae. You can enter by putting your name on the list in the foyer. What's On 29 January 2026?

Evening all, Saturday, January 31st; Card draw 11.30 am Duty Zane, House Scott. Summer Cup matches as advised last week to be continued . Friday, February 6th (Waitangi Day) 11.30 am tee off; Maori v the rest match. Always a great day with plenty of before and after banter. Golf HB Pennants 2026. Dannevirke has 4 teams playing in this competition, in the Championship 1 & 3 grades, plus Handicap 2 & 3 grades. These are teams of 6 playing match play all over the Golf HB Region, commencing Sunday 22nd February. Any new members interested in being part of a team, please advise Zane on Saturday. NZ Ambrose Golf Cup, round 12 qualifier at Saint Andrews Golf Club, Hamilton. Congratulations to "Young Boys" Te Wai, Graiden, Rani, and Eru Hauiti of their 1st place last weekend. 68 Gross 57.5 nett. Off to the finals Twilight Golf; Don't forget Twilight Golf is played every Thursday, 4.30 to 5.30 pm tee off during daylight savings months. Great opportunity to try out the game, introduce family and friends to golf, or hone a few new skills over 9 holes. The weather gods have been much kinder to us, than in some areas of the country. With approximately 112 mils of rain this month, the course has gone from a dry, plenty of run summer track to a lush green autumn track in a couple of weeks.
